How is justice served by tacking on a hate crime? I personally don't see the benefit. Either the kids are guilty of beating and sodomizing this kid or they are not. Despite what some sick folks think, beating and sodomizing someone is never a love crime.
Trying to outlaw racisim is like trying to outlaw hating green beans. You can make hating green beans, but those that hate them are going to continue to hate them.

Maybe- but I'm pointing out this is a major point of conflict between American and Mexican culture. I used to get beaten for that behavior- I never filed charges over it. Of course- this beating went a bit far- and you're right, the bleach indicates some premeditation (where did they get the idea that bleach destroys DNA though?). Never had the state involved either, and rarely parents- brothers

I don't really think the government should enforce diversity training, although if you think about it, they already do so. What we get is no training at all, which is very bad training. That the group in charge presently doesn't enforce anything at all kind of is already like a disagreeable group getting into power and forcing education according to its whims - they're just very bad whims.
