but the oldest one in production, is a Digital Alpha running OpenVMS 7.2-1, that's still doing critical work.

NES, SNES, Megadrive, Arcade (Mame/FBA/etc). No loading times, better games, you can play an entire credit while sitting on the WC. My old PSVita and my older PSP are hacked just for this.
Next Gen can't beat that!
I don't need a cable to make sure that my data is safe even if my laptop is stolen.
Just add a password to the BIOS, so you must enter that every time the laptop is powered on, and after that, encrypt the data on the hard drive and ask for another password every time the OS boots.
I'm using a Dell XPS13, with Fedora Core. And, by the way, all my important data is synchronized to my NextCloud server at home.
I use whatever carrier is linked to the phone I'm monitoring. One of the benefits of the job.... I work for the NSA
Quake 2 CTF is for pussies.
I have my entire setup on Linux, with encrypted filesystems. My daily use notebook is a Dell XPS13, with BIOS password, then harddrive password, and last encrypted password of the linux partition. All the three passwords are different, of course.
All the important files/documents are automatically backed up in Amazon AWS, in one of my servers running NextCloud, with encrypted FS. So, if I lost a PC, I can recover all the important things easily. Never had any problems at all with it. All the emails are on Google, so I don't need to backup them every day.
And, at home, I've got eight dogs, all of them rescued from the streets. At night, they sleep inside the house, so if any burglar tries to get into, he'll probably get out in a trash bag, as feces. Of course, you can see the dog's houses from the street, so you'll be pretty sure that there are more than one. By the way, the poodle is the "alarm" of the house. She wakes up with the sound of a flea!!! (and the Pitbull one is a tank.... you don't want to mess with him!).
oh, the good old TI 99/4A... lot of afternoons in front of the black and white TV screen, coding games at the age of 6, saving them on the old cassette tapes. Learned to code (and also, learned english!) with the big books with programs that came with the TI. After a lot of coding, a good game of Parsec or Jawbreaker made my day. After that, the first Amstrad 8086 with Basic.... and of couse, Bushido, Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island and the mighty Leisure Suit Larry! how can I resist to code my own games?? I learned to code by myself, pushed by the needs of having my own personal game characters on the TV screen... And now, more than 30 years later, I still have joy coding projects in my spare time, of course, doing IT business of my own. But it all started with the TI 99/4A that I still have on my home!
Well done George! if you have the money, and you can help other people, specially poor people, just do it!
Do it. Now. Build a man cave. I did it before I married, at my apartment, and after two years of being married, I buyed a big house. Of course, with a BIG man cave. My computer with a 32" monitor, my pinball machine, my arcade machine, and all my stuff is there (I've got a 42" rack full of network equipment and servers there, I have an IT company here in Chile, so I really like my work!). My wife don't like to play videogames so she don't ever look inside the room, not even for cleaning. From the door inside, is my PERSONAL SPACE, and I do whatever I like there. The rest of the house, including our bedroom, is her domain. She can paint them whatever color she likes, put whatever furniture, do what the hell she wants with all the other rooms in the house, but the man cave IS NEVER TOUCHED. Been married for 8 years now, and counting!!!
Get a girl, a couple of 2TB hard drives filled with porn, and practice to become a master of sex!!! Programming, wtf!?!??
M.A.M.E is your friend!!! I have the XBOX (the old one, not the 360!) filled with all the classics, so I can play them once in a while. You don't need so much time or dedication to play a couple of (emulated) quaters on these games: Xain'd Sleena, TMNT, Slap Fight, Ghost 'N Goblins, Rally-X, Star Force, City Connection, and a very long etc.
Even my wife plays Pacman once in a while!
And playing TMNT/Sunset Riders/The Avengers with 3 more friends that share the memories of old days at the Arcade, in a 50" TV, is a priceless experience
Now, I'm getting a Pinball (a real one) to put on my home. I think The Who - The Pinball Wizard from Data East will be a nice one to have. And, by the way, I'm 32 years old, running three business... so I have little time for my passion of Arcades, but still got the mojo!!
That's the thing about people who think they hate computers. What they really hate is lousy programmers. - Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle in "Oath of Fealty"
