It's 2026, and everyone already carries a high bandwidth digital radio with them. It's called a cell phone.

The only people still listening to AM radio at this point are Boomers listening to conservative talk radio. Even that is available on streaming now, so that AM spectrum would probably be better repurposed for something else.

After that NEOM debacle, do they even have enough money leftover to buy it?

If they do, I'd imagine that they can get it on the cheap. That business is hemorrhaging cash, the only value there is a handful of tech patents and the IP for their few remaining successful game franchises. I would think that you could buy the whole division for just a few billion dollars at this point and then scrap it for parts.

Honestly, who would want Microsoft's XBox division? Isn't it losing money in the billions every quarter right now?

Other than the IP for their few remaining successful game franchises, there isn't much worth buying here. They would be lucky to get pennies on the dollar for all the money they invested into it over the past 10 years.

So, you'll have bi-partisan support to kill any such legislation, and to launch a primary attack against anyone dumb enough to propose it.

Most of those projects failed, and now the cool buzzword is "AI Integration" so all of the major companies are working on that instead.

You're acting like this is the first ever RAM shortage. It's not. These things are cyclical, and things will get back to normal eventually. Oh, and Nvidia will pretend to give a shit about gamers again for a few months until the next tech fad that requires GPU acceleration pops up.

If anything, we're eventually going to end up with a glut of specialized AI accelerator cards that someone will find a way to repurpose when they become obsolete and everyone is trying to unload them on eBay for $50 each. We've already seen that happen with crypto mining hardware.

Really, that's what the last 25 years of IT has been about... outsourcing the boring repetitive coding and tech support overseas, outsourcing in-house data centers to cloud computing data centers, replacing locally installed software with SAAS solutions that run in a browser, and getting AI agents to (once again) outsource the boring repetitive coding and tech support to someone else.
