btw, Slashdot is obsfucating your name.

It's backwards for me, and it looks like namoWemoS.

Hello, Namo Wemos. How do you do?

      My name is blame me.

Well, he's only representing one side of the story, as if that weren't obvious. A lot of people's complaint is "but he's biased! He's not sharing all of the facts!" Well...yeah. Nobody is. Everything that people say and do is tainted by their own views. Because he made a movie about his doesn't make him suddenly worse than you or me.

This is true, but as a documentary director/writer/producer, it is a requirement of the job to try and put aside as much of his biasness to tell the truth. He does/will/can n

How about "Simply sick of hearing about the guy!"? Honestly, who cares? You'd think the guy was president or pope, instead of Rush Limbaugh with a camera.

If people are dumb enough to buy into him -- well, people are dumb about a lot of things.

  • B) guy who's presenting only one side of the story

(even if it is a side I'm inclined to agree with).

  • And this is a GOOD thing. We need people like him on our side.
  • I blame the liberal media
    • There are Conservative media out there ya know. :-)
    • I blame the children.

If it wasn't for them, who would we think about?

Uh, it varies for me. His message is one-sided, but I also think he's a freak. It's refreshing though.

      • So... he's... a..... refreshingly one-sided freak?

        Interesting... interesting indeed.

        • well, its refreshing because that's all some of my coworkers were talking about today was that movie F911. So, at least he is making people think.

On the other hand, he's a freak because rather than try to fix what's wrong, he just points it out.

No one likes people like that. I'm a doer, not a fence sitting whiner.

And that makes him a freak.

I think it was Abm0raz who said he's an artist, and artists create rather than destroy. he's destroying.
          • *sniff sniff* I'm so honored. :)

          • I'm not sure how you can say that "at least he is making people think" and then follow it up with "rather than try to fix what's wrong, he just points it out". As far as I'm concerned, informing people and/or fostering a healthy discussion is a "doing". If he was just a "fence sitting whiner", he wouldn't have spent his time and effort making this documentary. If you are a doer for enabling this discussion in your Journal, then isn't MM a "doer" for doing the same thing in a grander scale?

    Just another misguided poor dope.

I choose not to give him any power. I simply don't give a fuck about him, his work or what he says.

    Better Political Propaganda Through Editing.

He just plays to the mod, the tinfoil hat wearing mob and capitalizes off of that. Good for him. I believe his side to be wrong (I used to be part of his side). He's no better than the conservative AM radio talk show hosts. I tend to agree with AM radio but I know hyperbole when I see it.

    • in small part because I know how much that act just completely pisses off the left.

Does anyone else think that this obsession and hatred for anything and everything Bush is unhealthy?

Does anyone else think that the juxtaposition of these two statements is amusingly ironic?

    • I'm with you blinder..

If somebody wants to vote after weighing the options intelligently then I don't have a problem. Its the people on the "Anybody but W" train that scare the shit out of me.

I don't know enough about him to make an informed decision. I haven't seen "Bowling for columbine" or "Fahrenheit 911", so my only exposure to him has been the show he had on UK television a few years ago. He seemed OK, but a little sensationalist, and like Mark Thomas, I'd certainly take what he said with a pinch of salt.
  • I guess he's the counterweight to all the other editorializing "news" out there. He isn't interested in just the dry facts because, shit, no one likes dry facts...

well except for me and everyone else. Frankly, if folks stuck to the facts and checked their egos at the door real work might get accomplished.

Oh, and then they'd realize this is why folks HATE politics. Its all 100% True Ad Hominem attacks. As if demonstrating character flaws (took his wife to strip clubs and do some voyeur sex, the way he
  • A and B were described by Em fairly well, but E: Other is as follows:

He is a liar, hypocrite, and a well spoken opinionated man with nothing but destructive ideas. Believe it or not, I respect the man, but refuse to see any more of his films after seeing Bowling for Columbine. The movie itself was good, but he hasa no right to call his films "documentaries". At best, he could call them "dramatizations". Documentaries film the actual locations with the actual events. The try to adhere to the actual

I respect a lot of what he had to say in Columbine. The media & government are immensely responsible, IMO, for promoting a culture of fear--he hit that on the head. He does go off on ultra-liberal, close-minded tangents too often.

I said E because I think he's a very intelligent person too. People call him a buffoon, but I strongly disagree with that. He's a sharp guy--just wish he'd *try* to be a little more balanced. He started balanced in Columbine, then went all socialist/commie on us.
    • Ayup. He used to be pretty balanced back in the day when he was doing TV Nation(well comparatively, he still had a liberal bent). Rush and various other pundits were the same way. Everyone kinda swung hard in their individual directions because they found they make more money that way. I call it... the Moore Rush.

As to BfC. It had two good points(why does America have more gun violence than countries with similar gun ownership statistics and does the media's "It bleeds it leads" attitude have anything
  • Dunno about the "passing resemblance" bit, but why anybody takes that loon seriously after the nonstop lies in Bowling for Columbine [bowlingfortruth.com] is beyond me.

  • After Gore's last few speeches I'm beginning to think that Moore is what you'd get if Gore had stared in "Supersize Me". :-D

My big problem with Moore is that he claims to be making a documentary but when people call "shenanigans" on him then he hides behind art/satire.
  • Who the hell is Michael Moore?
    • dennis moore is a hero of the people.

dennis moore, dennis moore, riding through the night. soon every lupin in the land will be in his mighty hand. he steals them from the rich, and he gives them to the poor. dennis moore, that is he, dumb dumb dumb.

oh, you said michael. i don't know, but it doesn't matter if he doesn't have any lupins.

CowboyNeal has been pushed out of the top 10 most active stories list.
  • I'm not sure if he's completely insane or not*. A third option would be that he's as greedy and capitalist as anyone, but has realized that with Bush in office there's an enourmous market for his "documentaries". So he slags the U.S and Bush, sells some movies and laughs all the way to the bank. In any case, he raises some interesting issues and I'd like to see F911. I need to come up with a way to watch F911 without putting money in his pocket though.

*That his shit is one-sided is fairly obvious, anyone

  • Here's an idea for your next poll:
    Pajamas.

    How many people wear pajamas?
    • How many people wear pajamas?

I wear my pink pajamas in the summer when it's hot
I wear my flannel nightie in the winter when it's not
And sometimes in the springtime, and sometimes in the fall
I jump between the covers with nothin' on at all!

      Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory, what's it to ya
      Balmy breezes blowin' through ya
      With nothin' on at all

(Sung -- if you haven't gathered that yet -- to the tune of Battle Hymn of the Republic.)

      That is all.

      Cheers,
