Yeah, I have a handful of some stocks that were gifts (some GE, some Apple Computer (*pre iMac, so those bitches have appreciated NICELY, I've prolly made $50 on 'em!!!)) but buying stocks is for the fucking birds.
No load mutual funds tied to an index. Thems is the shits. You can get 'em as aggressive as you want (emerging market funds), as wierd as you want (exchange traded funds), or as safe as you want (heck, you can even go into bond funds, not that I would right now).
I gave you my list. I then preceded to give you "the biznezz"- Because I'm a multi-homed mad-man and a badman, not a sadman, man. A day without Mekka Ridicule is like a day without The Mekka.
When I used to vrave and irc*(one winter, it snowed 20 feet and Baltimore City was in a state of emergency, so everything was closed. So we'd get drunk and IRC.), me and my buddies on the campus lan T1 would run circles around everyone else. With our exceptional typing speed, we were considered by many to be BOTS.

Although if my high-school business class were able to predict reality, I would be stinkin' rich right now. Completely random picks (I wasn't really interested, but I needed the class to graduate), ended up with the highest-valued "portfolio" in the class.
Maybe in the future. But I'm not sure that I'd be able to maintain enough interest in business events to keep it worthwile.
I work for T. Rowe Price [troweprice.com], so I've got a bunch of their stock, only about 1/5 vested though. I also have a mutual fund I've had since I was about 11 (gifts and money earn from cattle projects in 4-H), from vanguard.
Can I officially declare the lameness filter dead?
Taco, let it go man. Base the lameness filter on karma. Even if a troll gets good karma, once they start spamming bitch slap them down and it won't be a problem. But us good little users can type a good amount in 20 seconds, ya know?
I like that idea. I also think you shouldn't have a time limit in your own journal. When I reply to journal replies, I tend to do it all in one block. Damn annoying when you have to wait before sending the next reply in a batch.
if you'd like. I grew up on a small farm. when I wasn't inside breaking my 8088, I was making hay, feeding the critters.. and raising steers to sell for college money. what would you like a JE about?
My favorite: HDI [yahoo.com]. I've been buying HDI stock for a little over 4 years now. This is a great, great, great company that has done nothing but make me loads of money. I originally started purchasing the stock in order to buy a scooter, but then it did so well and I got married that I never bought the scooter. And the stocks continues to grow... and split. Yea!
Stable growth: FAF [yahoo.com]. I worked for 1st Am a while back and I know how good they are and just how dominate they are in EVERY market. Very good, soli
Mostly I own index mutual funds, but I put a little bit (5%) of my 401K money into my employer's stock. It's the only individual company stock that I own. But I figure if I ever meet the CEO or a director, I can insist on getting some face time on the basis that I'm a stock holder:-)
I stick $2K every year into a ROTH IRA and occasionally have some left over money to stick in a normal taxed account. I lost my first 2 years contributiosn to the Roth IRA in a penny stock that had great ideas, and a great product, but failed to achieve much market penitration.
The normal taxed account is not doing too bad. Pretty much even. I own (or recently owned):

They only need a 2000% increase before I break

a shell company now, with no staff, and no means
