Journal Em Emalb's Journal: Subject (This is required) 11

Today has drug on like no other. Anyone else noticing this? Seems every company I do work for is taking the whole frigging month off.

Look, I like slow time as much as the next guy, but this is ridiculous.

Ah well. How was your day? :D

UPDATE Blackneto, where the heck is your sig from? I think I remember, was it an SNL skit spoofing celebrity jeopardy? Wasn't gonna do an entire journal on it, but it's being sitting in the back of my head all day, damnit.

probably end with me running naked throught the streets because the alarm clock tried to tell me that the radius of a circle is turkey*pi^2(again, damn cold pills)

  • ...But now I gotta run to the mall to get pictures taken for christmas cards (mind you, this is the SECOND time we're getting them taken this week. Its a long story, which I'll post to my journal tomorrow).
But yeah, I feel your pain.

i have a couple of projects i could be working on, but nothing pressing at the moment here at work. i didn't get enough sleep again. i am waiting for the big hand to pass the twelve again so i can go home. then i'm going to see if i have any luck with a little 3d project i'm working on for a LAN party this saturday. if that turns out, maybe i'll post something. if not you won't miss it unless you read this comment.

this whole week has been tedious at work. other things seem to be going pretty well, though. thanks for asking.
  • you want some slow? I was supposed to go home a half hour ago. bleh. today feels like someone snuck a monday into the middle of the week.
  • Went fast, especially since I had to drop four hours in a lab helping with projects. It was helped by me crafting the greatest paper in the history of evolutionary computing.

That and I got Godflesh Pure for 8 bucks and the rerelease of Boards of Canada Twoism. Can't be beat!
  • Of course it was Saturday Night Live.
That tiddly wink Trebeck didn't know what he had and cancelled the skit.
Now myself and Burt Reynolds are out of work.
But I am working on two new devices that will revolutionize the world.
The Anal Bum Cover [jt.org] and the Penis Mightier. [jt.org]
  • SNL it was. see above comment for more info. I'm so lame I created a troll account to answer you.

End of year sucks for work. My department is dependant on others for whatever changes or new systems that we install. so with 90% of the workforce in holiday mode it makes for some boring nights.
    I hate holiday season.
  • UNproductive ! I take Wednesdays off since I have a class to teach on Saturdays. I had all kinds of great plans to get some things out of the way today but I slept until 9:30, babysat my toddler for two hours, skipped lunch and then went into a productivity spiral. The wife came back from a doctors appointment around 3:00 and we had plans to go over to a little artsy village but the traffic was horrific and there is only one road to get there. Alternative: go to Tower books and price out Sedgewick's Alogorithms in C++ -> $75 for volumes 1-5 in two books. I will probably spring for them anyway but I didn't pick them up. In about an hour dinner at the 33rd St. Bistro, the highlight of the day. I will do something really rare tonight: watch TV. Something that I never do at all but I for some reason started watching the Spielberg "Taken" series the other night->damn !

  • This whole week has just drug by. Is it the economy? Nah. I think it has to do with the weather.
  • Today has drug on like no other.

I didn't have the faintest clue what you were trying to say here until someone else's comment gave a bit of context. You seem to be using it to mean "drag" in the past tense. Is that right? Is that common usage in the US (rather than using "dragged")?

Ah well. How was your day?

Interesting. I'm doing jury service at the moment. One of my co-jurors is seriously senile, and I'm *sure* he can't understand what the trial is about and what's happening. How he can be expected to reasonably try the case on its merits is beyond me. Plus, the Crown's main witness is utterly mad. She keeps contradicting herself, switching personalities as she goes. One minute she's calm, collected and educated. The next, she's acting like a mad bag lady, accusing everyone of trying to get her. She's doing a great job of destroying the Crown's case, and the prosecuting barrister was reduced to just sitting there with her head in her hands in despair. Ah well. These things are sent to try us. In this case, literally :-)

Is your job running? You'd better go catch it!
