  • March of the Penguins. That's what I'm gonna use my blood drive tickets for.

    • Batman Begins - I highly recommend it though it probably isn't out any more.
    • Broken Flowers - If you liked Lost in Translation or like Jarmusch as a point of principle this works.
    • Grizzly Man - A great movie that touches on a lot more than how a man gets eaten by a bear but about free-form film making, cult of personality. A lot of great stuff.
    • Murderball - More people should see this. It's a real good uplifting powerful film. People must think the idea would only work for 15 minutes as some Oprah-esque segment. Its much much more than that.
    • Wedding Crashers - Vaughn/Stiller/Ferrell/Wilsons movie. If you like these you'll like this. Better than Anchorman and Dodgeball IMO. Vince does the Motorboat which is classic. The romantic stuff doesn't kill the action. The bad guy is named Sack Lodge. Finally: Walken.
    • Great Raid - I was torn. This looked like another crap WWII movie. I also hold BFE against Barry Pepper. But I like Benjamin Bratt. A good Pacific war film.

    Stuff I recommend never seeing:
    • Dukes of Hazzard - You will hate this. This bit dick. And this is from me and my brother, two of the biggest Dukes fans out there. Serious, they must have tried as hard as possible to waste the individual talents of Stiffler, Johnny Knoxville, Burt Reynolds, and Willie.
    • Last Days - Gus van Sant blows. Really, as much as I hated Elephant there was at least something to respect in its naturalistic style. This movie is just the absense of content. If you spooled film randomly for 90 minutes this is what you'd get. You can't even say its about Kurt Cobain. If you didn't know, you'd never figure that out. The ONLY redeeming feature is Michael Pitt who does a wonderful job performing a song. Sure, it doesn't sound like Kurt Cobain but its more along the lines with the non-rock noodling he did anyway. In a world where most actors have stand ins for them while they win Oscars for being the Piano Man or some shit, this would mean something.

Seconded. The reviewers at the LA Slimes and USA Today didn't care much for it, but I consider that a Good Thing as far as this genre goes. (Hell, I usually don't pay attention to reviewers anyway, but the quotes from the reviews that were posted at Fandango were kinda like driving past a car wreck and I was in a rubbernecking mood.) It's not an e

  • I don't know about Batman, but War of the Worlds is definately a movie to see in the theatre.

  • War of the Worlds is pretty good. I enjoyed it, anyway.

Just saw 'Wedding Crashers' and was laughing quite loud most of the movie. Lotsa T&A, so if the wife doesn't dig that, it may be a downer, but if you can handle the occasional boob, its one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long while...
  • I haven't willingly seen a movie in a theater in over 12 years and feel quite good about it.

    • So...

When did you not-willingly see a movie in a theater?
      • "As Good as it Gets"
The girl that was currently banging me made me take her to a movie under the pretense that if I didn't, nor more sex.

        "Happily Ever After"
        Same girl. Same story.

        "SW:EP1"
Staying at a friend's place in DC and they all wanted to go. They paid for me. It was that or sit in the car for 2.5hrs.

        "Gladiator"
I was DJing another friend's wedding (both the bride and the groom were good friends of mine). I showe
  • I already did a review of it here. [slashdot.org] A few others around here reviewed it as well, but I don't remember exactly who or when.
  • I saw Batman Begins on an IMAX screen. After about 10 minutes of feeling like I was sitting wait too close to the TV, it was definitely cool. 4 outta 5 stars. woulda got 5 if the fight scenes were a little better choreographed.
    • I don't know if I would say they needed to be better choreographed, but I definitely think there should of been more wider shots of the fights. Quite a few too many of the "actor boxing the cameraman" close ups for my taste.

But very good. Much closer to the comic book I read growing up than any of the others.
  • You have to see this one. I was laughing so hard, my side hurt. This movie is hilarious!

Also, "The 40 year old Virgin" is pretty funny.

You can't go wrong with either of these choices. :-)

  • Batman Begins: Better than Burton

March of the Penguins: Who knew? My wife and I enjoyed it.
  • best batman ever..

    most realistic...(in an odd way)
and there is DAYLIGHT in the movie!!!
    more than once!
    Alfred is a pimp actor.
I was VERY disappointed by who they chose to be Batman...his hair-lip funky thing was annoying throught the entire movie and tripley-annoying when he spoke while wearing the mask..and all you could see were his lips.
