However, Tesla and SpaceX would not have succeeded without Elon Musk and I don't think anyone in those two companies was more important than him. Baglino? Straubel? Mueller? Yeah, maybe the company would have not succeeded without them either but we're still nowhere close to the importance of Musk.

Don't get me wrong, I hate Trump (I'm not even American) and hate that Musk is supporting him, but for me, Musk is still the individual who will have the most impact on climate change and I would challenge anyone to prove me otherwise.

Well, it depends what 'we' means.

If you mean yourself, it depends where you live.

If you mean all living things on Earth, then yeah. We're heading to a 3.0C (2.5C with a bit of luck) increase so we can expect a pretty decent mass extinction.

If you mean humanity, not so much. There's nothing foreseeable that humanity cannot overcome. Bees extinction? Nope. Increase in hurricane? Not even close. Sea rise? Won't happen.

Humanity (in developed countries) is no longer dependent of nature. That massive pig factory in China is a good example. Price of food could increase tenfold, it won't be enough to kill all of us.

Unless we decide to go crazy and launch all the Nukes, Humanity is not going anywhere.

Will McDonalds be the first thought? I highly doubt it. With they gazillion McDollards they would already be fully automated if it was economically feasible. Problem is, as much some of you believe McDonalds employee's takes are brainless, in reality their meal wasn't made for robots. And considering McDonald's customer are among the most selfish picky Karens I know of, even changing slightly the meals to help this will not be possible without major customers backlash (read internal crisis).

McDonalds should create a robotic branch before someone manage to create the first fully automated fast food branch. And, believe me, if someone manage to create a 100 squared food, one robot, modulable, FastFood/Coffee/IceCream 24/7 with drive-tru under, 300k$ and insurable that can be easily installed at any gas station, they will kick McDonald's butt like Amazon swamped Walmart.

Good point,

It seems like the obvious target audience will be restaurants where you can control the salt in sushi and people that have that chopstick. Furthermore, considering Asian countries digs technologies like robot cat as a waiter, I'm sure the interest for those "High-Tech Chopsticks" will be high.

Exactly this,

I don't think China are happy about the Ukraine war. It mobilized NATO into an unified war machine. If it was China that invaded Taiwan first, this would have never happened. And China is much, much more dependant on trade that Russian is, receiving a similar treatment would crush them.

So if I have to guess, China must be quite pissed at Russian right now.

You will have to explain to me the reasoning of that one, why would Putin even want to do that?

To keep Ukraine from gaining internet access? You will have to destroy hundreds of those satellite to achieve this with ASAT missiles that are at least a thousandfold more expensive while SpaceX could probably cover the cost through insurance and/or public funds and send another thousands in a matters of weeks.

Furthermore, it's not even taking into account the high risk of escalation. While not entirely an act of war, shooting down a satellite would be roughly equivalent of sinking a US trade ship in international water (minus the lost of lives).

I just don't see why this would be even considered by Putin.

I will never understand the fascination with replacing humans with robots instead of just redesigning the entire process to be automated. It's vastly more inefficient to make a robot replace a human than it is to just design an automated system in the most efficient way possible.

Well, of course, if the "only" this robot can do is flipping burgers, then it looks like a big waste of money. But the idea behind this robot is to do "much" more than just flipping burgers.

The $10-billion US observatory hurtled toward its destination 1.6 million kilometresÂaway, or more than four times beyond the moon. It will take a month to get there and another five months before its infrared eyes are ready to start scanning the cosmos.

The observatory will be able to peer back in time 13.7 billion years, within a mere 100 million years of the universe-forming Big Bang.

It is my conjecture that if this is the case, and it is more contagious, it will confer some naturally acquired immunity on the unvaccinated, and perhaps enough to dampen the spread of the less contagious, but more virulent Delta variant. Hopefully.

Yes I did she her video. Of course, she's a doctor so her opinion is worth more than mine on the matter. However, I'm also a man of science. So I'll allow myself a little skepticism about her statement on two accounts.

* First, she's making an hypothesis on a very restricted sample in a very short period (less than 10 days).
* Second, there's no peer review.

There's hope, but I would leave it as that for now until more research is made.
