Although Microsoft's anti-malware products are pretty good, this move could drive many competitors out of business and create a dangerous security monoculture.. and you can see that major rivals will be lawyering up already. On the other hand, many malware infections could be prevented even by basic software.. so is this going to be a good or bad thing overall?"

Perkins was the producer of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy as well as a writer, director and producer of many comedy shows including Spitting Image, The Fast Show and several others. He also invented the game of Mornington Crescent. The world will be a less joyful place without him."

Submission + - Google to acquire Postini (blogspot.com)

Dynamoo writes: "Google has announced that it is to acquire Postini — a company best known for its corporate spam filtering and security service, but also active in Instant Messaging and compliance areas.

The deal is to purchase Postini for $625m in cash. The acquisition is slated to enhance Google's application portfolio, and Google will also acquire several very large Blue Chip customers that have previously eluded it. More details can be found here."
