According to the summary, it was the victim that got out of his car and walked back towards the shooter. For some juries, that fact alone would have been enough to find that the shooter acted in self defense, regardless of what else happened during the incident.

The summary says (though not prominently) that it was "a victim impact statement", so by definition it was a speech about the feelings of the victim, relatives, and friends, not any kind of factual testimony.

That's true, but the obsession isn't from the people you think it is.

A con is all about getting the target to believe something. Most people have heard stories about someone getting lucky in the stock market and getting a 1000% return in a year (it can and does happen, just very rarely), and so it's not a psychotic delusion to believe that it could happen to you, too. Believing that you're "starchild" or "spark bearer" or something similar, however, requires at least a small predisposition to delusion.

We do have the money for it, because we already spend it on welfare programs. Most people currently getting government assistance would end up getting approximately the same amount of money they get now.
