When I bought my Commodore 64, you had to be a programmer to even use it...

I guess it must have really changed between the time you bought yours and when I got mine. All I had to do was put in a floppy disk and type a couple commands, and I could start playing games.

State and local taxes, being a "charge... mandated by a government", are specifically exempt from the rule. The average person is aware that advertised prices don't include sales tax and, perhaps more importantly, a person can find out from a different source (e.g. the government) what the sales tax is, so there won't be surprising extra charges.

"Depreciate" means the monetary value of something goes down over time. For example, after you buy a new car, it's worth less one year later than it was when you bought it.

"Deprecate" means a feature that's planned to be removed.

It's a great way for idiots to advertise their stupidity. I can't wait to see who will admit to having critical systems depending on a tools which were formally depreciated almost a decade ago. If you depend on Powershell 2.0 (depreciated in 2017)...

So is not knowing the difference between "depreciate" and "deprecate".
