Social media has no nicotine. Social media has no tar. The whole reason social media makes "addicted" is because it serves people large amounts of stuff they find entertaining. The situation is similar to when TV offered 24h cartoon channels in the 80s or with broadband in the 2000s. And the solution is the same: Send your kids ass outside if you think they consume too much.

And yet there are traits that are tendencially more often in men than in women: Aggressiveness, willingness to take risks, thinking either purely emotional or rational, cultivation of body strength. This is both the product of biology and culture. Men spent the last hundred-thousand years as hunter, warrior and worker and it feels consequential that your body and instincts would cater to that. Reckless driving and drinking might be arguably seen as expressions some of these traits but since they provide no real value for their risk they fall out of fashion. I think the reconsideration of what is regarded as "manly" is mostly driven by the recognition that most traditionally male values are deemed not useful anymore in a world without war, hunt or risky expeditions so men are expected to fit in whatever role civilization has in store for them.

And while men did indeed invent romanticism women can have it too and they both tend to set different emphasis.
