Submission + - France Bans BlackBerries

DesertBlade writes: France Government officials are no longer allowed to use BlackBerries fearing that the US can snoop government secrets. Are these risks real or just unfounded. What will they ban next, cell phones, computers or talking. Maybe they like most of slashdot they are waiting for the new iPhone and just needed an excuse to find a way to pay for them.

Submission + - CEO resigns over 'Lite Brite'

DesertBlade writes: The CEO of Cartoon Network has resigned over the bomb scare. Turner ended up paying over 2 million in restitution and the city of Boston coming to a stand still over some lite brites. I for one do not want to live in a glass box being scared of everything, and with governments over reacting just fuels the fear. Are we becoming scared of our own shadow?
Microsoft

Submission + - The Partnership that could have changed computing

DesertBlade writes: Bloomberg is reporting that Microsoft considered an Apple/Ipod partnership before it released it's own MP3 player the Zune. Microsoft was displeased with thier current MP3 players partnerships on the market, notably Creative and Dell. The article then goes into talking about anti-trust lawsuits. It also mentions Allchin who was heading Longhorn as saying "I would buy a Mac today if I was not working at Microsoft."

If this Apple/Microsoft partnership was formed how would this have changed the Microsoft and Apple dynamics?
