Comment From a country thats never had nuclear power? (Score 0) 215
From what I can find in a quick search Australia has never had a single operational nuclear power plant. In the handful of occasion where the government tried to build one mass anti-nuclear protests ensued killing the project dead. They went so far as to order custom submarines from the French with their nuclear reactors replaced with diesel engines. And this country is somehow an authority on what is/isn't practical regarding nuclear power? SMR like many technologies has pros and cons, how those factors work out (or don't) matter on the situation in which they are used. The most important part is let them try on a level playing field without undue advantages (subsidies, exemptions, etc) or roadblocks (lawsuits, regulations, etc).
