Journal DaytonCIM's Journal: ReFi Time Part DEUX 5

Kids... please don't listen to the talking heads on CNN and FOX in regards to Real Estate.

First, there is no bubble. Never was one. Never will be one. Ok?

Second, Winter is ALWAYS the slowest time of the year for new home sales, resale, refi, and new construction. Ok? Want to buy a house? Buy it in Winter. Want to sell a house? Sell it in Spring or Summer.

Third, brokers ALWAYS lie and cheat and steal and can't be trusted. That said, they'll find you the best deals everytime - just stay on them and read the details.

Last, pay the extra money for the roof inspection.

That's it.

Have a nice day.

you don't think so? it seems to me a few markets got a little ahead of themselves and are correcting now. at least where i live that seems to be the case. i don't know if that's a bubble or not. but things did get a bit out of hand. i don't think it's dire - or that there will be a crash or anything but it seems that right now is a much better time to buy that at any point of the year - say about 2 years ago.
    • There's definitely been a bubble, and it has already broken in parts of North America. In my own neck of the woods, tonight I drove to a friends place, and more than half the houses on one street had for sale signs - people who paid too much, and are now looking to try to get out from under. I have another friend who's living that same situation.

As for "never has been one ..." Toronto, back in the early '80s, saw houses lose up to 80% of their value when the boom broke in what was then the hottest, crazie

  • I have a sister that lives in Belmont, MA... a high-end suburb of Boston. Her neighbor had a beautiful house listed for over 6 months at $895k, ended up taking $650k for it. Did I mention it was on a pond and had a good-sized lot too?
  • I never thought about the seasonal buying and selling. Thanks.

I hope that all is well with you. I think about you every now and then.

    Take care.
