Submission + - Leaking chemicals endanger the water for millions in Europe (theguardian.com)

Bruce66423 writes: A former potash mine that was repurposed as a permanent dump for toxic chemicals is causing ongoing concern that those chemicals will leak into the local aquifer. This aquifer is a source for the Rhine.

It's notable that this complacent treatment is in contrast to the massive efforts put in to finding permanent repositories for radioactive waste.

You know what AmeriKKKan patriots really like? Ditching those camel-fuckers in the Middle East and let them keep their filthy oil. We just went to war. Again. At the command of Israel, which is not just a foreign country but a Jewish ethno-state. An ethno-state is what the alt right wanted for America.

Imagine if Putin had so much power he could overrule Trump and the democratic anti-war mandate he received from the American people. Such that when Russia attacked Ukraine, American bombers attacked Ukrainian leadership bunkers in support of a war Russia started.

That's this Iran situation in a nutshell. Israel's power over us comes from AIPAC, an illegal unregistered foreign agent. They bribe Congress, D and R. Israel first.

You know we give them 2 billiondollars every year? For what, exactly? Why do we give foreign aid to an advanced first world democracy? Much less one that is committing a genocide and attacking other countries?

We were nonconsensually forced into becoming an accessory to genocide. We sent bombs to genocidaires. Imagine America sending C-17s full of machetes to the Hutu in Rwanda to aid their genocide and you'll get the idea of just how sick and fucked up Israel really is. And just howbadly they have their knee on our necks.

You're probably right that a carbon price will emerge; the problem is WHEN. If it had happened 20 years ago, then we might have prevented some of the disasters we now face. We failed to implement it then, and there is no assurance that it will be soon. Therefore the choice is geoengineering and progress on other issues with less disasters or no geoengineering and progress on other issues with more disasters...

I went undercover on hexbear.net for a year and a half and damn, this matches the slapfights they had that always ended with the people who had the power to ban banning everyone who disagreed with them, followed by deleting all posts.

Someone did an analysis and something like a third of the entire userbase had been banned and deleted for heresy. My highlight was being banned for being a "Neo-Posadist", whatever the fuck that is. You people speak a different language. It ain't AmeriKKKan, that's for sure.We Americans are like space aliens to you.

No, don't tell me what a neoposadist is, I prefer not knowing, it's funnier that way.

Oh, in the Ukraine Stalin didn't mass murder all those white-skinned Christians: Yagoda did. Yagoda was a Jew, like most of the Bolsheviks. Where do you think Hitler got the idea that Jews in the USSR were a dire threat to the whole of Europe and needed to be completely eliminated? He then extended that view to the whole of Jewry, ignoring that only powerful Jews were a threat, not Murray the greengrocer.

Hitler killed 6 million and is the worst human being to have ever lived, yet Yagoda killed 10 million and nobody knows his name.

History is written by the winners, and the USSR won WW2.

No wonder they wrote that Jews were the primary victims instead of the primary provokers. Remember the Russian proverb: "A Jew will tell you what happened but never tell you why."

It's not. There isn't the political will to introduce a proper carbon tax, as the election of Trump demonstrates. The reality of other companies / countries being able to operate without the carbon tax will always ensure it's going to stay a nice theory. Turkeys don't vote for Christmas, and petrol heads will believe those who argue it's not necessary, because they want to.
