Surely the value is that with Windows 11 it's much easier for Microsoft to push ads and gather information on how you use your computer. Why wouldn't you want that? I don't understand

There are no ads on my Windows 11 install, never seen one in the four years I've been running it but then again I'm not in the USA where your government allows corporations to fuck you in the ass without even needing to give you a reach around. As for gathering information on how you use your computer telematics are a good thing too, not all bad. Without telematics you end up with godawful UIs like GIMP and the farce that is two sets of keyboard shortcuts to do the same thing in Linux depending on if you're say copy pasting in a GUI application or in a terminal.

The only hardware limitations are those put in deliberately by Microsoft to force you to upgrade to run Windows 11. The proof of this is the many computers that don't meet Windows 11 hardware specs but install it using a modified installer that bypasses the checks and it works just fine.

And why is that exactly? Is there some rule that says if you ever accepted tax money from someone doing illegal or harmful things without you knowing, you implicitly approve of that behavior and therefore aren't allowed to stop it when you do find out? Because that sounds pretty fucking stupid.

But they're not interested in stopping them, just finding a way to justify taxing them or taxing them more. We've known for decades that smoking causes cancer, respiratory issues and kills people, many have called for it's banning yet governments all over the world continue to allow it to continue despite making noises about banning it. Why? Tax revenue. The UK taxes cigarettes at £6.68 plus 16.5% of retail cost in Tobacco Duty plus 20% VAT (sales tax) per pack of 20. The average price of a pack of 20 cigarettes in the UK is now £16, 80% of that is tax. It raises around £10Bn for the UK government.

That's bullshit and just about sums up your typical American's lack of knowledge of both history and the world outside of the USA. The ALLIES came up with a plan and formed NATO which is defence only organisation NOT a trade organisation you dumb fuck. The rest of your post is just as bullshit as that.

This is the EU wanting to do this, not the UK. The UK isn't in the EU, it hasn't been in the EU for half a decade. Fucking retard.

The UK likes to believe it's this big sovereign power and it even has a museum full of stolen goods to try to prove that but the fact remains that the UK does not have sovereign authority on the rest of the world and its power is diminishing every day because of stupid choices like this.

You must be American with this display of ignorance. This is the EU wanting to do this you fucking dumbass. The UK isn't in the EU, it's not been in the EU for FIVE FUCKING YEARS.

Look Ma it's a dumbfuck! You completely miss the point. Unlike when paint started to be mass produced you still needed skill and creativity to come up with something remotely reasonable. To create music now you don't need skill, you don't need talent, you need to put in the absolute bare minimum. Literally type into Suno "Make me a song about going out for a drive in my car in the style of Bryan Adams" and it'll competely create a song and lyrics from scratch. Shit you can even get AI to make the video too. Fuck all effort required, no having to come up with a tune, no having to come up with lyrics. Zero fucking talent and effort required.

- Owners of flagship devices concerned with their image and having the latest tech would be more likely to replace devices more often to get access to the latest gear, perhaps handing the old device down to a spouse or child if they aren't getting a trade-in credit for it.

I buy flagship phones not because of image but because their performance will hold up longer than a cheap phone so overall the TCO is lower. By the time I typically replace them at 4/5 years old they still are matching or in some cases exceeding the performance of current gen mid-range phones.
