The article is not precise, and is misleading as such because people think "Cellular phone" when you say "Mobile phone" (especially in the UK). The study they talk about here:

'Now a limited study at Landau University has found that bees refuse to return to their hives when mobile phones are placed nearby. Dr Jochen Kuhn, who carried it out, said this could provide a "hint" to a possible cause.'

Actually used Mobile Phone base stations, like you'd use in your house for a cordless phone connected to your household landline. Specifically, a phone that uses DECT (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DECT) as a protocol. They did NOT use cellular phones for this study.
