Yes, sure they are cheaper. But they also are in a price bracket that is simply crazy. At the time, I did found that a 2080 msrp (699$) was already crazy for a video card and good luck to buy one at that price in Europe. Unfortunately for me I need NVidia cards for running my tensorflow models and my 2080 with 8GB start to show its limits :( I have found a second hand 3090 FE with 24GB for 'only' 850 euro, but it is still hurt in the butt but less than a new one will hurt :(

You don't have to turn someone else, just prove that it was not you. In most of the cases, if not all, the driver is also on the photo of the infraction. Else, you can easily invalidate the fine due to lack of proof. At least, that's how it work in France (the only contry where I received a fine without being in the driver seat. I was able to show that I was not in the driver seat from the evidednce photo of the infraction) and should in any sane country.

What is important? The pixels showing the ennemy, the mosaic on the wall I like to discover, the shadow that change with the folliage of trees and perhaps the ennemy comming in my back? Even if I take the example of the shadow that in the beginning was not important and for that badly renderend to save some time budget and because an ennemy is comming in my back the sahdow became very important for the clue that there is something/someone in my back, the change in the quality of the shadow would kill any surprise effect :(

Now for the advantages of upscaler, Shadow of the tomb raider (with very good hardware) run at 137fps in 1080p and about 60fps at 4k. In these conditions, upscaling keep a very good framerate and let me play in 4k. Not bad at all :)

How filling an external disk drive of random numbers then taking a copy of it to my friend is exorbitant? Or asking him to decode by using the time-pad from index X?

Or you mean that sending that time-pad securely is exorbitant? Exorbitant like splitting it with an algorithm like Shamir Secret Sharing and giving my friend a pice when I go to his home, another piece when he come to my home, another one through USPS, some more in my last holidays photos, by pigeon carrier, or in a hidden truecrypt volume? With this scheme you can make sure that any adversary need to catch all of them to reconstruct the one-time pad and I wish them good luck to do so as there is so much way to transmit data.

Except that I am losing about 10-20% of performance converting my CUDA code to OpenCL due to the shear lack of registers (about half from CUDA). And that Tensorflow is CUDA only (Don't make me laught talking about ROCm who still doesn't support recent core (Navi, Big Navi) and floting point operations last time I checked).
