Yes I get it, some people want a lot on their phone. Go right ahead.

Should I ever want to I can re-eocode for the phone (into whatever).

The files on the phone are throw away, it's not a backup.

You are still keeping flac as the master file. I rememebr they days of re-encoding video for the phone (or pda), you would not say the 320*200 re-eoncode was your keeper would you? Just temporary fluff.

I would say for mp3, VBR changed that. Back when I moved back from ogg I started to use 256 VBR mp3 and they were fine size wise. Of course not all devices liked VBR back then.

But hey coming from the amiga where is was of a low quality 8 bit sample for the songs (and yess I still wanted computerised music back then), anything was better!

Why would you.

If I use something myself today (or 15 years ago), it is going to be flac, space is no longer a consideration for audio.

Also mp3 got much better at higher bitrate and a quick goole says something called "opus" was t4he successor to ogg and I have only just heard about it today becuase well, flac.

I just says it how I see it, of course the end of gta 4 sucked (in that is was virtually impossible on pc using mouse and keyboard).

That was because it was the first one that was designed for console first. Also why people though there were perfomance issues at the time on PC. There were not as long as you had the right hardware. Needed 3 cores and a good gfx card, not 2 cores and the best gfx card (on which yes it was poor). I also has 8GB ram since I moved to vista sp2 (had to xp 64 was a test and dx was never updated (if anything was)), though I guess the app was still 32bit it could at least have all the ram it wanted.

I may have to replay 4 now (after doing the big patch all the music back into steam update).

> Windows 11 Home doesn't support BitLocker so you won't have encryption enabled there.

If you log in with a microsoft account, and hey if you use windows you probably need to so your things are there, they both home and pro turn on encryption by default.

Unfortunately the implementation on home is a nightmare since it does not tell you about it and you don't get the key! First you know it that you computer breaks and you cannot access the files on anopther machine. It's called "device encryption" And it is bitlocker without any options other than turn on / turn off.

First I found about it was when I got a new laptop and used a key to upgrade to pro to enable bitlocker only to find it was on but in a user unfriendly format even before I put in the new key.

This applies to win 10 too, though often did not happen as the requirements would be a win 11 ready tpm. But on win 11 it will do it if you use a windows account (and sometimes if not as it will come from the manufacturer already set up and like I said since it is unfunctional bitlocker I do not think you can find the unlock key). There are a few cases online where people have lost all their files, yeah they should have a back up, bit it's also hard to accomodate for something you are completely unaware of.
