I think that you right in both the points:

Right, but what about the mistake that is affecting you? If a person makes a mistake they will be held responsible. So, same should go for companies as well.
Good for them if they make less mistakes, they are going to save money and pay less.

This is, probably, the only way to make sure robots do the right things in the streets. This is capitalism.

Why would you consider this a case of misuse? This is exactly what it was designed for -- chatbots are for chats.

Sometimes, to get your thoughts straight, all you need is to discuss them with somebody. Chatbots seem to be just great for this. You really do not need anything from them, you just explain your ideas and this makes them more organized. This is really useful. Especially, now when you really have to be careful what you say to others, or you may end up totally cancelled.

It is quite similar to people. When a person says something, the answer can be quite unreliable and even wrong. So.. it is too similar to us then?

Folding@home was nothing like Alphafold3. Not even close. It was a brute force docking, configuration sampling. Alphafold is a transformer based AI, as far as I know and it "knows" how to fold a protein, yes based on the previous examples from its training data. But is it not how we work, is it?

I am a scientist, I can assure you that scientists never prove anything. They can only show that the explanation they offer is consistent with the the observed facts. This is all scientists can do.

The safety of vaccines is very difficult to "prove". How would you do that? If you give the vaccine to 100 people, none of them would show anything reliably for issues which are below 1%. And 1% over a large population is a lot of people.

Depends on the definition. You can call a person / AI a Nazi, simply because it said something you do not like. And being toxic can mean a serious range of things. I bet with all the safe guards, it is really difficult for current LLMs to be a toxic as an average forum user...
