Submission + - Allofmp3 Shutdown (torrentfreak.com)

studguy1 writes: AllOfMp3, the popular online music store, has been shut down by the Russian government . Pressure from the United States, and a refusal to enter the World Trade Organisation (WTO) convinced the Kremlin to take the website down for good. Looks like a follow-up of the agreement Russian Govt. had signed back in 2006, now that Putin and Bush are buddies again.

Feed Connecticut AG Sues Best Buy Over Phony Version Of Company Website (techdirt.com)

Earlier this year, Best Buy was embarrassed when it was discovered that the store had a special version of its website for in-store use, which didn't display the sales and special offers that its actual site did. The result was a bait-and-switch situation, whereby customers would come into a store thinking they could get a deal that they found on the site, only to be told (and shown) that whatever deal they thought they saw was no longer being offered. While the company initially denied the existence of the site, it eventually admitted its existence to the Connecticut Attorney General, although it didn't offer an explanation. Apparently, the Connecticut AG, Richard Blumenthal, believes the company intentionally sought to mislead customers, and has filed a lawsuit against the company, seeking customer refunds and other penalties against the company. It's hard to judge the merits of the case before more details emerge, but it definitely looks bad for Best Buy, and it's doubtful that the issue is just contained to Connecticut (where it was discovered), so the company could have a PR mess on its hands if other states want in on the action.

Submission + - OpenDNS says Google-Dell browser tool is spyware

PetManimal writes: "David Ulevitch, the founder of OpenDNS, claims that Google and Dell have placed 'spyware' on Dell computers. Ulevitch made the claim based on his observation of the behavior of the Google Toolbar and homepage that comes preinstalled on IE in new Dell machines. He says that a browser redirector sends users who enter nonexistent URLs to a Dell-branded page loaded with Google ads. Another observer, Danny Sullivan, says that this is a different result than what happens on PCs without the redirector. However, the original article notes that Ulevitch has a vested interest in the results of mistyped URLs:

Ulevitch's complaint also stems from the fact that the error redirector breaks some of OpenDNS's functionality. If an OpenDNS user types "digg.xom" by mistake, their browser pulls up the correct "digg.com" instead. But the redirector breaks the free service's typo correction — as well as the browser shortcut feature it unveiled last month. "Google's application breaks just about every user-benefiting feature we provide with client software that no user ever asked for," Ulevitch said.

Submission + - Apple sued - Macbook LCD not "millions" of

qu1j0t3 writes: "Business 2.0 reports, "Two MacBook owners ... have filed a class action lawsuit ... charging the company with deceptive advertising, misrepresentation and unfair competition over the use of the phrase 'millions of colors' to describe the capability of the LCD displays in MacBook and MacBook Pro computers." (Engadget broke the story. I can't comment if these guys have a genuine complaint; I've no plans to upgrade my Powerbook G4.)"

Uh, Uncompressed DV footage is different than the compressed final output format. The bitrates you quote are mostly MPEG-2, and although great for DVDs/broadcasting, they are not so great for editing and adding affects as they are already compressed.

DV/miniDV has a bitrate of 25Mbps
DVCPRo has a bitrate of 50Mbps
HD DV (if you can find one) has a starting rate of 100mbps
