Gig economy apps in Europe/UK all have tips the same as the US does. They're just as prominent and constantly hassle you for them. While you won't expect tips if you order directly from a pizza place, if you use one of these 'apps' it's becoming quite common/standard.
'algorithms' these days are horrible. Half the time after watching something I go to my history to purge it just because I know what it'll do to my recommendations.
Instagram is the absolute worst though. Click 'not interested' or report and block 500 'marketing/affiliate/otherpyramid' scam accounts and it'll just server you up 500 more. About the only thing that I've seen it be remotely responsive to is keyword matching things you click on (but not what you like), just the fact that you've clicked on them in your recommended feed. Which leads to situations like:
Why are you showing me this?
You just clicked on something exactly like this!
Did I like what I clicked on?
No.
Did I comment on it?
No.
Did I subscribe to it?
No.
So why are you showing it to me?
You clicked on it!
But didn't I also click 'I'm not interested'
You're just playing hard to get. Your feed is now nothing but this, enjoy!
Don't be irreplaceable, if you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted.
