First off, none of the people I know that use Starlink see any need to mesh with any other network. Secondly, Starlink is the only SAT ISP using phased array antennas & if/when any others appear commercially, each mesh operator will be using different frequency bands that the antennas need to be tuned to so WTF is there to be "interoperable" with?

If you want to say "I hate Musk" then just say that. I agree+respect that opinion more than dumb bullshit.

I recall reading a definitive debunking of the "go fast" video by an optics expert with intimate knowledge of the F18 gun camera. Every claimed "anomalous" movement was explained as being a particular kind of "sun dog" (those ghost suns you can see on complex multi-component lenses that are pointed facing the sun).

So Tim Gallaudet's "proof" of aliens boils down to "an unknown higher ranked officer told the mail system admin to junk the conspirationist bullshit we were trying to circulate".

Submission + - SPAM: Kaido Orav and Byron Knoll's fx2-cmix Wins 7950€ Hutter Prize Award!

Baldrson writes: Kaido Orav and Byron Knoll just beat the Nuclear Code Golf Course Record!

What's Nuclear Code Golf?

Some of you may have heard that "next token prediction" is the basis of large language models generalizing. Well there is just one contest that pays cash prizes in proportion to how much you beat the best prior benchmark for the most rigorous measure of next token prediction: Lossless compression length including decompressor length. The catch is, in order to make it relevant regardless of The Hardware Lottery's hysterics*, you are restricted to a single general purpose CPU. This contest is not for the faint of heart. Think of it as Nuclear Code Golf.

Kaido Orav and Byron Knoll are the team to beat now.

No, it has most certainly not been proven. It has been asserted but that is not proof.

OpenAI has been proven to have deemed that anything that they can use anything they can access on the Internet to train their AIs without any considerations. That there are no currently known tracks between Altman and the Sky voice resembling SJ's voice doesn't mean that he didn't pull Roberts aside and tell her "make it sound like SJ" or that there are communications that they have not revealed and in a jury trial, given how many people find that sky and SJ are more than oddly similar she would likely prevailed had Altman not pulled sky. A court decision is the only proof in this context & OpenAI chose to avoid discovery and a trial.

So again: Very highly doubtful but I'll add in probably untrutful because you have failed to explain what you and "your mom" are doing that is different from everyone else.

Very highly doubtful. Apple's better memory management through compression & faster access to the on-module RAM have made the expectations of those used to x86 laptops overestimate the RAM needed for all but the most demanding workloads, as has been seen time and time again by those who actually used one. Come on admit it, you're basing your opinion on a win/linux PC & not through actual use of a M1/2/3 Mac with 8Gb.

iPhone users don’t have to care, they’re not using the RAM overconsumption shit sandwich of Android+Chrome.

As is so often the case, the non iPhone users wrongly consider their pachydermic use cases to be EVERYONE’s use cases.

8Gb is more than enough for my mother’s MB Air. She only uses Safari, iMessage and Pages. That’s many tasks as Apple correctly said and she does not need a pompous self entitled PC Gamer “journalist” with slovenly multiple tab habits to tell her that she should have paid $200 more for her Mac.

My Mac’s have more memory, but then I run multiple VM’s and don’t need the advice of a pompous self entitled PC Gamer “journalist” to know how much RAM I need either.
