Comment How is Generative AI dangerous (Score 1) 24

Please help me understand how todays Generative AI software is dangerous. Obviously you have the academic fraud and plagiarism to counter, and perhaps a bit of misinformation, but what is the danger of an ai that helps you generate words and graphics. If you still trust anything you read on the internet without researching it you are the problem, not AI. Also, schools have always had plagiarism and issues with people hiring others to write their papers and take their tests. AI just does it better and cheaper. It seems to me they are all panicking over loss of corporate IP (intellectual property) which is also not a real issue. If we had decent copyright and patent law things would not be in copyright limbo forever and we could actually grow as a society. You can't currently copyright AI so your creations are always in the public domain. I understand that and AGI or Artificial general intelligence could grow to be a threat if let out of it's cage, but just don't allow that legally. Sure, someone will do it but then you can just arrest them and destroy their creation.

Funny you bring up custody battles over children.

Can you imagine how nasty those battles are going to get with this sort of law in place?

One of my friends ex-husbands can already get the cops to raid her house every few months if she pisses him off. They have to do it because he says she is hurting the child and they have to check it out.
Now he can ge her declared a sex offender as well. Sure she can do it back, but he can afford the better lawyers and would probably win.
