Submission + - Huge leap forward in robotic limb replacement (wired.com)

BlueshiftVFX writes: Dean Kamen showed some video of the impressive, mind-controlled prosthetic robot arm he's invented.

Deservedly so: Kamen's arm, dubbed "Luke" (after Skywalker, I assume), is an incredibly sophisticated bit of engineering that's lightyears ahead of the clamping "claws" that many amputees are forced to use today. The arm is fully articulated, giving the user the same degrees of movement as a natural arm, and is sensitive enough to pick up a piece of paper, a wineglass or even a grape without mishap.

Submission + - Writers strike could be over! (cnbc.com)

BlueshiftVFX writes: A deal has been struck between the major media companies and the Writers Guild of America to end the writers' strike, former Walt Disney chief executive Michael Eisner revealed on CNBC.

"It's over," Eisner said. "They made the deal, they shook hands on the deal. It's going on Saturday to the writers in general."

"A deal has been made, and they'll be back to work very soon," Eisner said, adding, "I know a deal's been made. I know it's over."

Now Battlestar Galactica can have it's proper finale.
