And audit and audit and audit. The problem with the third option is that just like Chinese quality, you have to continuously audit. Otherwise the Chinese will find a way to make it cheaper and cheaper ( and crappier ) all the time. So you audit and find nothing. Then three months later, the Chinese have replaced most of the software with something cheaper because they copied or pirated it from someone else, and left many of the defaults, 'cause it costs to change them.

The Chinese will still watch American films. The only difference is that instead of feeling a bit good about piracy, they'll feel really good about piracy.

Buy a new p/c you don't need, and a brand new license for windows you don't need, on it too.

Unless you have unlimited Internet, that might not be a good idea, though it does sound like a lot of fun.

I wonder if that applies to the videos on Youtube. It would be nice if Firefox and other browsers could highlight videos that are mostly ai generated. I've been sucked into watching a number before part way through realizing the title only bore a rather loose connection to reality, or where the content had nothing to do with the title.

Age probably has something to do with it too. With younger generations watching videos instead of reading, novels are probably being sold more and more to older generations who grew up reading books. Those older generations eyesight is beginning to fail and they find that the larger print in full size, hardcover books is easier to read than the smaller print of paperbacks, even before they need glasses. Also the older generations are more likely to be able to afford hard cover books.

Or maybe somebody is just kicking the tires thinking about a facilities purchase.

If it's really only about reducing headcount, then that implies that the companies must have been very overstaffed to begin with ( and should replace a lot of upper management ). If it isn't, then they'll just have to hire replacements to handle the business.

There is an easy solution to installing Windows on a machine without a tpm. Just install Proxmox first and then install Windows in a VM and let Proxmox provide the tpm.

They probably can do basic math, they just know that most people either can't, or won't bother to take the time to.

If it turns out that the Sun rules Earth's climate and that anthropomorphic climate change really is a scam, does Microsoft still have to buy the credits ? If we end up with runaway global cooling due to climate engineering which results in catastrophic agricultural failures then what ? Would Microsoft be liable for those damages ? Would starving people have recourse ? History is riddled with unintended consequences.

We really need something like this for use on all politicians !
