When I was living in the Bay Area we had a hummingbird feeder outside our apartment. I tried to get pics one day with my old Minolta. Its fastest setting was 1/1000 of a second, but, being an older camera, its "click" is rather loud. Loud enough to startle the hummingbird. So the pics came out a bit blurred as the hummingbird reacted tot he sound of the camera clicking!
Yeah, they are amazingly fast and I'll say that even at 1/1000th of a second on my camera with a relatively quiet shutter, there were lots of blurred images. I had to go to 1/1250th to get better images and while they could have been pushed further, I was already at ISO 800 and wanted to retain color saturation, sooo.....
Indeed fantastic shots. I set out hummingbird and oriole feeders this year, but so far have not had any show up. From what I understand it can take a while for it to be found, but supposedly once found you can get quite the swarm.
We're going to put in butterfly bushes next year too. Although technically a weed, it's pretty and extremely fragrant as well as producing a large amount of nectar. Hopefully this brings in the birds!

Thank you! :-) All I did was just capture a moment in time, they took care of all the beauty.
