You can say that about any democracy, but the social ones are at least designed to prevent any individual or any party getting too much power. If you look at them, the governments are almost always broad coalitions.

The best system is social democracy. Government in charge, not corporations, and government working for the electorate thanks to an electoral system that provides proper representation.

It works because it's not authoritarian, but instead gives individuals a real stake on society and in government. There is a strong social contract that is upheld, where as in other democracies like the UK and US the social contract is more of a scam than a deal.

This doesn't seem like a lie, a NIC is in a pretty good position to knock something off the network if it feels like it and the 'bluefield' devices have enough punch onboard to run some rules regarding whether or not to do that; but it seems like a wild exaggeration of how helpful it actually is.

If you actually have a set of rules that detect your bot being wicked it will presumably save you some CPU time to run them on the NIC rather than having the host CPU watching the traffic; but the hard part is the set of rules that detect your bot being wicked.

Waymo's system has better sensors than humans do too. The have lidar mounted high up, cameras all around, and a computer that "looks" in all directions at once. They can see hidden pedestrians that a human driver can't from the driving seat, that sort of thing.

Thing is, Waymo is concentrating on safety first, with an expensive sensor suite. Some other companies like Tesla are trying to cost reduce their systems aggressively, and as a result they are much less safe. Musk and some of the other tech bros seem to think that just being as good or a little better than a human is enough, but they also seem to be aware that legally speaking being liable for thousands of vehicles that are only a little better than a human is a huge liability. Rather than improve the tech, they lobby to change the law.

With solar it's more about the economics. PV is highly cost optimized so even if the new tech can scale up, it has to also be extremely cheap.

Kind of a dick move. Wikipedia has clearly indicated that it doesn't want your AI using it as a resource, and so has the Internet Archive. IA in particular is a non profit and their servers are melting in the inferno of all these AI queries right now.
