You guys are talking at cross purposes. One of you is taking "nearby restaurants" to mean "nearby McDonald's restaurants" and the other is taking it to mean "nearby competitors restaurants". It's not completely clear from the summary, but my interpretation is that it means the former.
No, but there are reports of TVs scanning for unprotected WiFi networks and connecting automatically using those, if available. Nowadays, I also wouldn't be surprised if the unit contains a 4G transmitter to send data over the mobile network.
