Sitting in a cafe in the city of Mykolaiv right now, everything runs on generators. Earlier today, around 7:45 local time a few shahed drones flew over the city, this was after a lqrge attack from about 6 hours prior. Multiple energy distribution systems were hit in multiple regions. There were people killed, some drones hit homes, there were myltiple kinjal (dagger) missiles launched from mig-31 platforms. I crossed the border to Ukraine over 2 weeks ago, spent a week in Kiev, a day in Lviv, a day in Odessa, etc. Everywhere there are issues with energy distribution. Where I am now there are issues with watwr as well of course. People keep going because tbat is what people do, nobody here wants to give up anything to ruzzia, they want to stop the war in a way that prevents future attacs from the scourge that is ruzzia. As to this lawsuit, it is completely justified but it is not enough. Europe is giving ruzzia more money every year in oil and purchases than Europe spends on this war, given tbat Ukraine is protecting Europe from putin taking this war further west, I find this behaviour atrocious.

For Aldi, which uses Instacart, I assumed it was because there is no 'fee' for pickup, but they have to pay someone to shop for you. I consider the difference a convenience fee.

That said, by not shopping in store, I end up getting only what is on my list and end up paying FAR LESS than I would if I was wandering around.

Bayer/Monsanto is constantly being sued. Litigation is part of their budget.

Sure. But the suggestion here is that they were specifically inviting it, ostensibly because it would harm competitors.

They are not going to support the idea that "glyphosate causes cancer" for some short-term market advantage.

Let me guess, competitors can now produce and market it. So now they need to stop it being sold so they can sell the next great thing at huge markup.

Yes, I'm sure than Monsanto is champing at the bit to be the next Owens-Corning and sued into oblivion, which is why they're working hard to make sure that Roundup has to be removed from the market for safety reasons.

Do you people even hear yourselves sometimes? How do you say shit like this with a straight face?

This retraction makes it easier to litigate, because expert witnesses no longer can cite this paper and have ironclad defense.

If true, that sounds like pretty dangerous ground for an alleged scientific journal to be treading upon. "Who cares if the paper is accurate or not, we're retracting to make it easier for plaintiffs' lawyers to sue" doesn't sound very scientific.

right, they modded me troll decade and a half ago here when I said the nations will fall apart, governments will fail, libertarian ideas will take hold. They are modding me troll today, yet it is exactly what is happening. It is possible that people are actually afraid that my comments will cause ot to jappen somehow should more people read them. My comments are not the reason anything happens, that is magical thinking by the fearful moderators. My comments are a prediction and the reality is moving in the direction of my prediction.

see, here nobody accepts my belief system, they have moded both of my comments as "troll", yet I never troll here, I always say what I mean when it comes to tech, politics and economics. To mode my comments as "troll" means to declare that I do not believe and practice what I say or maybe that I am trying to start some sort of a riot. The former assumes that I am not serious, the latter assumes that everyone reading these comments camnot engage in civilized discourse, it is disgusting really, that people deny others their intentions or agency.
