No, inflation is mostly driven by excess money printing and government deficit spending. Corporations can't raise prices across the board unless the money supply grows to meet that demand for capital.

In a restricted capital environment, rising prices in one area of the market necessitates lower prices elsewhere.

There are already labor laws on the books that outline how employees can be treated on the job. One key feature is that, at least in the United States, full time employment for non-salary employees is based around a 40-hour work week. It is already a settled question in this country as to whether the government will regulate treatment of workers (it can and will).

Right or wrong, Bernie is suggesting that the existing standard of full pay for a 40-hour workweek should be changed. Legally it would be a trivial matter to adjust existing labor regulations to accommodate such a change.

That $800 billion, whether it's Medicaid or otherwise, is all deficit spending. And government spending pullback don't mean that money "leaves the economy".

If anything is going to nuke the bond market, it's going to be further unwinding of the Yen carry trade. Oh you thought that was finished? It isn't.
