We are way past inconvenience. Electricity bills typically go up at least 15 to 20%. Air quality drops tremendously and becomes a serious health concern especially for children. Remember even though they're taking all your electricity it's never enough so they are often running gas turbines with absolutely no oversight or environmental regulations. Your probably values collapse so you can't even sell and move. The noise is also not just inconvenient it's a constant drone that you never get used to and it bores into your skull and hurts. Finally they start taking so much groundwater that your foundation starts to collapse.

It's basically the death of any community. That's why people scream at those Town Hall meetings. But they haven't figured out that they can't do anything about it as long as they keep voting Republican.

They are the party of the billionaire and the fascist. That's what you get with the Republican party. There is nothing to save there. At a certain point an institution just becomes too corrupt to be saved. That point was around 1995 when newt Gingrich and his cronies took over the party completely and started actively hurting the country so that they could blame the damage on the Democrats and leverage that into election wins.

I do not think it's unfair to call the Republican party a terrorist organization. They have repeatedly been caught blocking critical legislation or passing legislation that hurts the American people in order to blame the Democrats for the damage done. That is causing fear and pain or political benefit which is definitely terrorism.

At this point what needs to happen is the Republican party needs to be wiped clean and the Democrat party needs to split between the centrists and the progressives. Trying to reform the Republican party would be like trying to reform the national socialists if not going to happen.

knowing a bit about how LLMs work, and knowing a bit about model training for non-LLM models, and having done a bit of word working and metal work, I assume it's actually easier now to make an AI model at home than it is to make a printing press at home.

That depends. Do you mean a useful LLM vs a Linotronic? Because you can't reasonably make either thing at home out of nothing. You could make either thing out of parts, e.g. fine-tuning a LLM, or assembling a printer out of parts, or you could make a simpler example of either thing at home easily. You can't even afford the power bill to train a useful LLM that can, for example, explain things to you.

I'm not saying stupidity is a crime here, I'm saying it's concerning coupled with the potential threat.

Ranting at the computer is not the same as making threats.

If it could reasonably be construed as a threat, then it has to be investigated as a threat to be responsible. Is this a reason why some people might want to run models locally? Yes, and it's a good thing you can do that with any decent game machine, or with many other relatively inexpensive computers. But you can't just run a service and monitor it and then ignore what people are using it for, that's not a thing. If people are going to consume SaaS then they need to be aware that the owners of the platform are going to spend some effort attempting not to be accessories to any crimes.

I have watched several videos of local county level Town officials being screamed at by their constituents because they approved the data center. And they just let it wash over them because they know when election time comes it's going to be a choice between them and a Democrat and there is no way in hell those people are going to vote for a fucking Democrat.
