Also silicone tends to be safe upto 200C which should kill germs without building resistant bugs.

Most hospital autoclaves reach 121C which should be no problem for silicone covers.

A while back I found an old fashion paper journal from third grade. It had one entry in it:

Went to Russ's house. We collected snails

I don't expect this journal to be filled much more.
