    Blockchain based Social Media

    Edited: Apr 14 2022

Summary: Easy to use and versatile platform. This social network has an ecosystem that keeps it in constant evolution.

Positive: Web3 incentives to use this social network make it quite vivid. The ecosystem includes many communities, community based projects and DApps.

Negative: As a social network with its own dynamics, it has a learning curve until the new profiles find their space.

Hive is what Web3 is all about

    Date: Apr 14 2022

Summary: The dapps (decentralized apps) and the community in general are some of the best I've ever seen, crypto or otherwise.

And there are so many things to chose from in the Hive ecosystem! Blogging & vlogging dapps, games, music & streaming services, financial communities - there's something for everyone!

Positive: I love that I am the one in control of my account & can't be deplatformed. If one dapp decided to mute/boot me for some reason, I still have all my followers, posts, comments, etc and can just find another dapp to use.

Negative: The onboarding process needs to be simplified. There should also be a better way of getting important notifications about the community out there.

    Great blockchain of DApps

    Date: Apr 06 2022

Summary: I spend most of my online time on Hive and minimizing use of other platforms. Learned my way into blockchain there and found many new friends that make me stay here with fun. I am not sure why we do have not more users there though, for content creators, gamers and investors a great place in my view.

Positive: The blockchain is fast, secure and has a lot DApps I like such as the games like Splinterlands or Rabona. The community is pretty cool as well helping each other in serious situations.

Negative: Some flag wars in the past between whales, but that was mainly during the times this chain was named Steemit.

    My HIVE experience

    Date: Apr 06 2022

Summary: Overall? I love HIVE .. I don't like the downvotes and the circle jerking that goes on... but the pride I felt for the community where we bought Edgar from Venezuela a new water well... or from where we've been supporting Zirochka in Kiev during this war.. or where we raised enough to get Hickory Mack out of being homeless and into a apartment with a job .. those things.. those make it all worth it

Positive: Pros? I get paid for content I would otherwise be posting on Facebook for free. Censorship resistant.. your content can be downvoted and blocked from certain font ends but it's always on the HIVE blockchain.. the community is awesome once you take the time to learn and start to interact. The HBD savings account on HIVE pays 12% APR.. there are many front end that are each their own community. There are so many investment options and opportunities that even the most ignorant like me eventually learn from osmosis.

Negative: The learning curve was difficult for me. I really was crypto and technology ignorant.. I'm up to crypto knowledgeable and technology retarded.. but I'm learning. I don't like all the different keys. I wish I could just pick my own password. In the beginning it can be hard to gain traction. My advice for new people is to not really post a lot in their first couple weeks but instead to go comment on other people's posts

Difficult to get started, but worth the effort

    Date: Apr 06 2022

Summary: There is huge earning potential on this platform. You don't even need to be a content creator, with some investment, curation by itself can be extremely profitable so you're literally paid for reading content and voting on it.

Positive: A community for every topic, and if it doesn't exist you can create one yourself.
Being paid for content that you've given to other platforms for free for years (Instagram) is a great feeling.
Very supportive community that wants to see the platform and new users succeed.

Negative: Posting rules can be difficult to find, causing altercations when posts are downvoted and rewards are lessened.
Very steep learning curve for account creation and use.

    The best decentralised blogging platform

    Date: Apr 04 2022

Summary: Great potential and already hundreds of people are earning well from it. There is something for everyone, but you need to act honestly for that.

I have done well, but that is through putting in the work building communities and supporting lots of people.

Positive: Loads of dapps such as games, video and specialist sites. A strong token with good trading volume. A supportive community who will act against those who abuse it.

Negative: Bit of a steep learning curve, but lots of people to help you out. Some will say that you get downvoted for doing well, but that applies to a tiny minority and many of those have tried to cheat the system.

    Hive Review

    Date: Apr 27 2022

Summary: I worked here for more than a year and my reputation is about 73. My reputation is indicating my contribution in the platform but I quit because of intentional downvote by the whale and there is no such a platform of complaining for such kind of injustice behaviour of the power holder whales. I know many of the quality bloggers left hive because of such kind of injustice and suppressive attitude of the power holder. They are just mockering about decentralization.

Positive: It's a good opportunity of earning by sharing blog.
There are a number of community with specialisation where anyone can find their required category of content sharing. The range of topic according to community is wide.

Negative: - it is controlled by the Whales with their downloading power. You cannot complain to any authority when you will get downvote from whales intentionally. They will assembly tell you that they are not agree with the post reward. Just laughing stock.
    - Some of the communities are not in good position so it's difficult for the users who want to share their customised content based on strong zone in those communities as there is less support in those communities.

    Blockchain based social media

    Edited: Apr 27 2022

Summary: Hive is one of the three blockchains which has forked from Steem and shares many functionality with its peers.

All Hive blog posts are stored on a public ledger and can't be deleted. This is something to consider when using Hive.

Hive postings are monetised based on the upvotes received. However can be hard for new users to get enough upvotes to pass the 2ç minimum payout threshold.

The blockchain supports user defined token which can be used by communities to add additional incentives and communities for many interests have been created.

Positive: • Content is kept on the blockchain can't be deleted.
    • Own cryptocurrency with no transaction fees.
    • Community driven through elected witnesses.
    • Markdown support to create feature rich blog postings.
    • Monetisation though cryptocurrency.
    • Support for Groups/Community/Tribes support
    • API for automation.
    • Multiple user interfaces possible.
    • Open Source.

Negative: • Content can still be hidden in the user interface.
    • Whales dominate the blockchain trough the delegated proof of stake.
    • Opening accounts is complicated.
    • While free accounts are available a small one-off investment (≈10$) is suggested to get your account going.

    Very poor experience.

    Date: Aug 03 2022

    Summary: Very disappointing.

Positive: Nothing new as it's just a poor-quality UI copy of Steemit. User experience is very negative compared to blurt or Steemit.

    Negative: No freedom of speech.
Whales decide what others should do or else users will get downvotes.
    Bad attitudes.

Bullying Is Rife and Downvoting Out Of Control

    Date: May 20 2022

Summary: Until the small core of users that are running the platform and insist upon downvoting the successful users that they don’t know leave, this platform is without doubt one to avoid and your time will be better spent on one of the better chains.

Positive: There are a group of users who are very passionate about the platform. They are very strong minded and the reason that Hive exists.

Negative: These strong minded people don’t seem to realise how damaging their downvotes are to the platform’s growth. They’re so blinded by their belief that downvotes are good and an important part of the system.

They’re very quick to blacklist users with little to no justification at which point you’re bullied into leaving. Which suits the small cartel in charge as they continue to dominate the reward pool.

This is a huge deterrent to investors as anybody who dares to earn rewards has them wiped out.

    Unequal Distribution of Wealth

    Date: May 02 2022

Summary: It was lackluster due to liberal bias being practice on the most extreme on chain levels. There is also very little tolerance for questioning the covid-19 narrative. If you do not virtue signal to the "whales' you will not be welcomed.

Positive: No shadow banning or algorithmic censorship. There is a wide variety of content, if you can find it on the feeds that are heavily soft censored by the large account stake holders.

Negative: Financial censorship is out of control, the largest share holders have a very present left wing bias and will zero your posts, preventing you from sharing your content with people who do not have an account.

    👎👎👎 Have Low Expectations

    Date: Apr 28 2022

Summary: My time with Hive started well - my articles were well received, well supported and because of this, I promoted Hive to my followers on other platforms who subsequently migrated to Hive.

As with many others, this changed in an instant. One of my posts received a big downvote which wiped out all of my rewards. I hoped it was a one-off and having heard that people who complain about downvotes get even more downvotes, I kept quiet.

My next post also got downvoted so I asked why and received no response. As expected, my next (and final) post was downvoted into oblivion.

This is a platform filled with disgusting, hate fuelled idiots. As other reviewers have said, it's toxic.

This shouldn't have come as a surprise given that Hive was created through anger and hate following their nemesis (Justin Sun) buying a large stake in Steemit.

If you decide to ignore this advice and register anyway, enjoy it whilst you can and avoid forming any emotional ties.

Positive: All of the anger and hatred is contained within Hive which allows Blurt and Steemit to foster a more positive environment.

Negative: It's incredible how angry and hate-filled Hive users are.

Even users who claim to have Hive's interests at heart DOWNVOTE THEIR OWN FRIENDS if they think that their posts are earning too much.

When "friends" downvote you for saying that you're taking a break (which could easily have been due to poor mental health), it provides the perfect example for what they're capable of when they're not your friends.

    The worst of the worst

    Date: Apr 26 2022

Summary: Avoid this platform at all costs. Most the negative reviews on blurt are from these hive users who never logged onto blurt and most the positive hive ones are paid for by people giving money for votes. Please be aware this site is toxic.

Positive: It was a great platform till it got completely taken over by a small circle of whales who completely police it. They hate being downvoted themselves and moan about it incessantly but love doing it to others for any reason from you earning too much, having an opinion different to them, defending someone else getting downvoted etc etc.

I don’t have much posItive to say.

Negative: This platform is rampant with abuse and from those that own the majority of stake so it’s impossible to compete. It’s more centralised than fb you’ll only do well here if you keep your head down and have no opinion at all or you make sure your votes never get decent. As then you’ll become a target.

Incredibly toxic - Stay away from there!

    Date: Apr 25 2022

Summary: It is a huge shame, that they are keeping their downvote button. My presumption is, that this could be the end of the platform...

Positive: Good dApps and big community. Hive is a hard fork of Steemit about 2 or 3 years ago. They wanted to do it differently, they ended up doing the same...

Negative: A small circle of investors control the ecosystem with a downvote button, causing massive damage to the victim, once it is used. The general atmosphere there is extremely toxic.

The good the bad and the ugly

    Date: Apr 19 2022

Summary: Good at times, very bad at others, when they turn on you it turns into a nightmare even wanting to log in there. No site should make you feel like dreading logging in, it does, they do.

Positive: A lot of add-ons like games, most people got free tokens when it was forked from Steemit, some good people on there and some bad.

Negative: If 1 whale does not like you or what you post, forget earning anything, and when you annoy 1 of them they will talk on discord and drive you from the platform which makes investing a risk not a pleasure.
