Journal Journal: Alias acquired by Accel-KKR

"Accel-KKR and Alias®, a Silicon Graphics Inc. (NYSE:SGI) company, today announced a definitive agreement with SGI® under which Accel-KKR, with participation from the management of Alias, will acquire Alias from SGI for $57.5 million USD."

Is it me, or does that seem very little for a multiple award winning, Hollywood dominated software developer? Maybe I don't have much experience in the business field, but it doesn't seem to fit right. Well, as an avid Maya user, I hope this is nothing but good news for the future.

Journal Journal: Discreet/3D Studio Max developers for auction on Ebay?

This is kind of awkward. I've seen strange stuff on Ebay ranging from people selling their virginity to bidding for a beatdown, but this is still up there for two personal reasons: 1. Why did Discreet release their developers at an era where CG is starting its peak in the mainstream audience? 2. Being a 3D artist and 'developer' myself, it is really strange imagining myself selling my abilities on an auction site. Maybe I just don't visit Ebay often enough. I like to buy records the old fashion way (DITC). I should give thanks to Deathfall for this.

Journal Journal: Spam companies affiliated with schools

This is interesting. Just today i got an emailvia through my University portal system at New School University. Apparently, this email was trying to sell me clothes and fashion products at a discount, and at the bottom said, "(This message is associated with PSD/Parsons Student Link)" This really annoys me because now i believe my school is selling student email addresses to companies. Is this something new? Is there some kind of privacy violation or breach of confidentiality which reserves the right to prosecute?
