Journal Journal: the perfect desktop
Last night i tried for the first time in my 6-year linux experience, the slackware distribution.
Despite it is sometimes boring to do some of the basic tasks, its fun to maintain a system at such a "low-level"
The install process is great, very simple but efficient. No problems at all, installing slack 9.1
After that, i decided to follow some advices and install dropline gnome. After downloading the packges, i started GDM and my Gnome 2.4 session.
No word about that! Simply the best desktop I've seen. Rocket fast(dropline is compiled for 686, including the Xserver). They offer most packages that belong to Gnome, and a few others. I even had the choice to select redhat's artwork for gnome. IMHO, its the best them i've used. clean, fast and pretty.
I'm considering removing my debian, and replacing it with slack+dropline gnome for a daily use :)
