Journal Journal: Java vs. C++ in universities
I was wondering if other universities and colleges across the country have a reputation for only pushing java to their students. Here at a major university in florida, they push so much java to these kids that you could graduate without ever touching C/C++. I've heard the reasoning for such a push is so kids get experience in object oriented programming but when I took Advanced Placement Computer Science in high school, I thought I got quite a bit of object oriented programming experience as well as the ability to learn on my own. Does such a push sacrifice the potential for many of these students who could be using such talent to write great programs espescially for OSS?
