It's ... different. As I understand it (the Brave token), it's designed to replace the original ad with one of their own. In doing so, you earn credits that they will pay directly to the original website (once the site signs up with Brave.) So the idea is that the more you visit a site, they more that they'll pay, and vice versa. (As opposed to the original site receiving money from the original 3rd party ad-company as they expected.) I don't think Brave adds any new ones, just replace the ones that appear.

Personally, I just turn ALL of the ads off. I don't see ads, and if a site breaks and force-insists that I'll view them -- then I'll just leave; not worth my time.

The actually interesting sites already get my money. If you don't want me to see you as perhaps interesting, fine with me.

There was a guy (in UK?) maybe 5 years ago who had evidence of a crime he committed. (I think it was jaywalking.) He encrypted the file, printed out the keys, erased the encryption computer, then burned the keys on camera, suggesting the police then arrest him for not being able to decrypt the incriminating video.

I probably got parts wrong, but the thing is that he "wanted" to be arrested for not being able to produce the decryption key.

PS: I might be biased due to the fact a lot of these people coming out of institutions do not understand machine organization. They write basic stuff like linked lists, queues, hash tables like they were on a mainframe with one CPU in the whole system. Really bad stuff coming out of our institutions now days. It might explain why our entire company the youngest guy is 59 (me) and the oldest is 78. I don't have time to explain to a Master Degree guy basic POSIX threading and Machine Organization of todays complex processor architectures from Intel and AMD. They should know all that when they graduate. Sad.

I am willing to give Redhat a chance. The tools that were AI augmented at the Denver conference looked useful. I think if they go along that trac it will be fine.

There are a few videos on YT talking about how to locate and remove the SIM card from your car. (It varies wildly. but is usually a pain to reach.)

I plan to (a) pull the transmitter fuse if possible, (b) (test and then) install a switch to electronically disable the antenna, or (c) depower or (as a last resort) remove the SIM card.

I'd still like my car to occasionally talk for updates and such every 6 months or more, but certainly not milli-second-ly. I'd MUCH rather have it connect tethered thru my phone though which I could enable/disable at will. My car doesn't need to be a roving hot-spot or have it's own data plan.

I personally faced down two criminals doing car thefts, on MY car though I didn't realize it at the time. None of us were armed and their story was WAY suspicious (It's 1AM and you got lost and you're going to take a nap HERE!??!) but at the time I couldn't find anything wrong and let them go. When they walked off the road to the woods in the wrong direction after I told them where they were trying to go, I called the police and later found out they were staling cars and trucks and were picked up an hour later in a nearby car lot with loaded cars on a trailer.

At the time I was all alone, no neighbors, phoneness, and outnumbered but managed to defuse the situation. I'd MUCH rather not have had them steal things to start with; after than I'd much rather have complete control over the situation until the police showed up. If they'd then come at me I'd have shot to kill, if they had run away I'd have shot to wound. But getting away would NOT be part of the picture -- so I guess in the cage I go.

People gripe about "Police Brutalities" -- I completely agree but think if we had a better class of criminals we wouldn't have those brutalities. The people screaming that ALSO need to ride with them for a week to see just what they deal with.

During the summer, I read an article about (can't find it now) some avatar already selling ideas and products for years. They had millions of viewers. (May not have been the U.S.?) And another issue they noted: there's literally no hidden skeletons-in-the-closet for a future nasty surprise, the "actor" never complains, goes on strike, or ages, and is always matched up with marketing.
