I have been trying to install a MythTV box for almost a month now. Have had only marginal success.

This last time, went through the Fedora MythTV FAQ verbatum, and ended up loosing the ability to install via Yum, Apt, and RPM. Lamest part, was that since I couldn't install, I also couldn't uninstall to get back to where I was.

Best I can see, it was a Python problem.

Anyways, that was on FC3, I decided to retry the project with FC4, but have been having major problems with my Dell Optiplex GX240 box. The PS won't put out enought juice to run 3 HDs and 1 DVD, plus the PCI cards. So I decided to take my Video archive drive, and go external. Solved the voltage problem.

However, it seems that whenever I install FC4, I get numerous problems. Perhaps someone who is reading this (if anyone ever does) will be able to associate with them.

The DVD of FC4 is SHA1SUMed correctly, according to the SHA1SUM file. However, about 50% of the time, the installation fails at random spots, complaining about corruption on the disc (clean, no scratches). For the moment, I am dismissing it as voltage related, and should probably look into getting a new PS. (recommends? silent is required)
