Comment Maybe stop announcing so many movies... (Score 1) 124

Is there any chance of Disney Lucasfilm ever being run by adults again? They announce new movies several times a year, but none of them get made, which is good, because the ones that do get made are all garbage. Well, all but one.

I can't believe they haven't damaged the company so much they have to start selling properties off, and I'll be happy when they do.

Disney delenda est.

I definitely watched a different movie. I thought it was mind-numbingly stupid. Sure, there were some fun visuals, but the story was nothing but a long string of cliches. Every single actor completely phoned it in, except for maybe Millie Bobby Brown, who just isn't that good.

I've seen B-movies from the 80s made for under a million that had better writing.

I can tell immediately from the tone of the voice. It's always too cheerful. A pleasant speaking voice is important for basic communication. Sounding that cheerful comes across as completely fake. I just got one not 5 minutes ago and it opened with "Hi, this is Mary. How are you doing?" I said "Fine" just to see how bad the script was. Then it said, "I'm calling to help you --", which is when I hung up.

First off, if you don't identify the organization you are representing in the first sentence, I'm going to hang up on you, person or bot. Second, I can't stand that everyone asks how I'm doing. You don't really care, and I don't want to tell you. It's a stupid tactic that again just comes across as insincere and annoys me immensely. It's bad enough when people do it, but a bot? That's insulting _and_ absurd.

Fortunately, the AI bots don't respond quite quickly enough, and they completely ignore you if you speak over them. However, even if they were better, it would still obviously be a spam phone call within 5 seconds.

I'm guessing the new traffic lights are still LEDs, but better tech, and with lenses that make them look like the old-fashioned incandescent lights. Traditionally green traffic lights are a fair bit bluer than the typical green LED light (usually around 520 nm). Honestly, I haven't taken notice if traffic lights are still the slightly warmer green color or not.

I'm glad because the traffic lights with the very distinct individual bulbs where a bunch of them are failing are really ugly and annoying to me. Maybe it's a trypophobia thing.

Well, that's not entirely true. The LEDs themselves emit a single wavelength, but they can be combined. And more importantly, LEDs are enhanced with the use of phosphors that emit other wavelengths. That's how they made white LEDs, since "white" is not a single wavelength of light.
