Reading some old comments I wrote, I said something about not knowing Arabs who consume pornography. I realized this is bullshit. Once upon a time, I had a public anonymizing proxy. Somehow it got found/scanned and publicized, and for tens of months afterwards, I got a large amount of traffic from people viewing porn because content filters near them didn't block my site or my proxy, since it was not a porn site. The vast (VAST) majority of these porn peekers were from Arab countries (I learned this by analyzing my logs).

Moral? I suppose that I can't think of any broad cultural group (not even NOW yuk yuk just kidding) that I haven't observed to enjoy porn and/or psychoactive chemicals.

So, again: you can reduce harm or maximize punishment. You can't choose both. And the "maximize punishment" philosophy is sick and twisted.

I don't like the band called Good Charlotte. But I have a daughter named Charlotte, and I like Charlotte's comments. I think she's from the other side of the pond. It's a popular name there.
