Journal Journal: Stand down

The danger described in the previous journal entry has subsided. I would like to thank everyone who took steps to avoid it for their efforts. The crew of Voyager are in your debt.

Journal Journal: Urgent Request

I wish to direct the attention of everyone who might be reading this to this comment. The ultimate fate of numerous people may hinge on it.

On a somewhat lighter note, I note that in my haste in writing the comment, I made an omission. The last sentence of the third paragraph ends with the words: 'Nostradamus 16th century'. Naturally, this should read: 'Nostradamus in the 16th century'.

Journal Journal: Flawed Logic 1

I believe the Moderation System of this site, 'slashdot' is somewhat flawed in its design.

I will use an example to illustrate my point. I have just posted my first comment here, having just recently been granted outside network access on board Voyager. It is rather slow, and since it makes use of tachyons, its signals travel back in time.

However, this connection suffices for a limited set of specialized research purposes. But I see that I have digressed. My aim with this entry was to discuss the Moderation System.

I note with some dismay that this first comment of mine has been moderated as 'Funny', an inexplicable event that causes me great puzzlement. However, it has also been moderated as 'Overrated', which seems much too arbitrary a term. Still worse, I understand that the so-called 'Karma' that many users of this site seek to increase, is in fact not increased for a user whose comment is moderated as Funny.

This somewhat strange arrangement, coupled with the moderations I have already reported, have led to a decrease in my own 'Karma'. It is now 'Bad'. Logically, it should remain neutral, since my single post is still rated at 1, which was the score it began at. Also, such a large decrease in Karma for only a single act on my part seems quite illogical, and could conceivably be demoralizing for someone who is more concerned with 'Karma' than I am.

That is all for now,
