Journal Journal: Thursday Nov. 14, 2002

Another day in the life of Perl loser. I am sitting here at my "desk" waiting for my Perl script to finish; can you say boring?

On a good note, I am in Seattle and the sun is shining, for now.

Slashdot is boring today. I can't read the news anymore because all they ever talk about is Iraq, Bush, Saddam, War on Terrorism, War on Drugs, The Sniper, John Ashcroft and his gang of thugs, spineless Democrats, blah.

I have no idea why I write these stupid journals. No one ever should read them, they are ridiculously boring.

I bought a book today On The Road by Jack Kerouac. I have only read one chapter, so far so good. Kerouac was a great writer with a great style. If you haven't read any of his work, you should.

Why did my fellow citizens let Bush and his band of corporate whores have all the power that they wanted. Can't they see the evil that they represent? I have no use for politics anymore, I am obviously out of sync with my fellow Americans; they have spoken.

For anyone out there reading this, sorry.

Journal Journal: Another day in the life

I don't ponder the past as much as I used to, but I occassionally will daydream about the glory days of the tech boom. I still miss it sometimes, it was a crazy time, fun as hell. Sure there was plenty of pain to go around, but that was near the end.

I spend my days now sitting around at my little desk, with my back facing an aisle (I hate that), and my little laptop pittering away my days. I do nothing exciting all day, I probably only work for about an hour or 2 a week. The rest of time is spent surfing the net, reading Slashdot and now writing in this stupid journal.

I work for a bank in Seattle, WA. I am supposed to be a Perl programmer, but I don't really do much programming. My job consists of running this one single Perl script that is about 600 lines of code. I occassionally make modifications to the script, but that is a rarity.

I miss the glory days of the tech boom because if I was this bored at a job I could easily have 20 other jobs to choose from. Granted many of those jobs would have been crap, but there would have been options.

Since the demise of the tech boom my wife and I have started our own business building web sites and online applications. Business is going well, but I am having a hard time keeping up with all the work. Maybe I should just quit and work fulltime for myself.
