This would be genuinely useful for iOS.
Currently you can back up either to icloud or to a macos device, but this requires your mac to be reachable on the network while the phone is charging, and it backs up to the expensive internal storage of the mac (which can then in turn back up to time machine). Backing up a 1TB iphone and a 1TB ipad very quickly fills your macbook storage, but wouldn't make a dent in a cheap HDD.

Being able to push backups to a strongly authenticated (eg mtls) server would be great. The images themselves are encrypted over the top so you have an added layer of protection should the server or storage protocol be compromised.

Time machine is almost there, but it uses SMB which is blocked by most ISPs, a lot of people would not be comfortable exposing SMB publicly and it's very slow over a high latency link. Something like webdav with mtls would be better. I can theoretically perform time machine backups from across the world if i connect a VPN to get around blocking of the SMB port, but it's too slow to be usable.

Even 90 years ago attacking from the air formed a key part of the strategy. Today even more so.
You can see the battlefields of Ukraine where soldiers on legs are gradually being replaced with flying and wheeled/tracked robots.

The sort of ground defences that impede tracked/wheeled vehicles are easily able to impede bipedal attackers too. But machines which are able to fly above the battlefield are immune to these kind of defences.

Indeed, arbitrarily constraining a robot to animal-like motion defeats many of the advantages of a robot. In most cases it's simply more efficient to use wheels or fly, which machines have long been capable of. It's only in a very few niche cases that walking on legs makes sense.

Machines have been faster for a LONG time when they're not arbitrarily constrained by being forced to emulate animal motion.
Machines which fly or run on wheels are far more efficient at traversing fixed distances at speed, and have long existed.

They did.
Earlier windows versions didn't have this limitation, they introduced it in xp as far as i remember. Other systems also had no trouble formatting fat32 volumes up to 2tb in size, and windows would happily read such volumes it just couldn't format them.

They will almost certainly be used in chromebooks, and no reason they can't run linux..
But i doubt they will be able to match the performance/watt of apple's offerings.

Batteries will always degrade and need replacing, unless you intend to replace the entire unit when the battery degrades.

Well if they buy the nearby buildings and offer you a decent deal on rent then it's not the employee paying, as they'd still need to pay rent somewhere else and would likely be paying a higher rent.

This is exactly what's needed for jobs which aren't flexible on location - keep employees nearby so they don't have to waste time & money commuting. It would also force a redesign of cities so instead of clumping all the workplaces together with no housing for miles around, things would be intermixed.

Surely you'd pick a better body if you could? One that's taller, better looking, stronger, not suffering from any genetic risk factors you might have etc.
