Nemotron 3.5 Super VL Description
NVIDIA Nemotron 3.5 Super VL is a multimodal foundation model developed for AI agents that require reasoning, visual understanding, coding, and multistep task execution. Its 120-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts architecture activates approximately 12 billion parameters per token, enabling efficient inference while maintaining substantial model capacity. The model processes text, images, documents, and video within a unified system that combines multimodal interpretation with instruction following and tool use. Its document intelligence capabilities include extracting information from tables, analyzing charts, interpreting page layouts, and processing multipage documents. Video understanding features support visual information retrieval, content review, incident analysis, and reasoning across recorded sequences. The model also supports software engineering tasks such as code analysis, error identification, debugging, testing, and recommending fixes. Developers can customize Nemotron 3.5 Super VL using NVIDIA NeMo for supervised fine-tuning, low-rank adaptation, and reinforcement learning with domain-specific data. Its inference optimizations include speculative decoding, context reuse, multi-token prediction, and NVFP4 quantization to improve throughput and reduce computational requirements. The model is available with open weights and supports deployment across compatible local hardware, enterprise data centers, and cloud infrastructure.

Frontier open source agentic AI Date: Oct 15 2026
Summary: Nemotron 3.5 Super VL feels like one of the more practical open models for serious multimodal agents. The combination of vision, reasoning, tool use, customization, and strong inference efficiency makes it especially compelling for enterprise workflows where one agent needs to understand both documents and the systems around them.
Positive: The agent performance is probably the biggest win. It is strong for coding, web research, document analysis, cybersecurity, and other multi-step tasks where the model has to understand what it is looking at and then actually do something with that information. I also really like the efficiency. NVIDIA says the 120B model only activates 12B parameters per token and can hit more than 600 output tokens per second in some agentic evaluations, which makes it much more practical for high-volume workflows than the headline model size suggests. The openness is another advantage. NVIDIA is releasing model checkpoints, datasets, training recipes, and customization tools through NeMo, so teams can adapt it to their own documents, policies, tools, and specialized workflows instead of depending entirely on a closed API.
Negative: This is not the model I would pick if I just wanted the easiest plug-and-play chatbot experience.
