Reliable file synchronization across cloud storage services

    Date: May 22 2023

Summary: We recently needed to consolidate a number of files from my Box account over to Dropbox. With tens of thousands of files totaling over 40GB, downloading and re-uploading everything manually wasn't practical and we started searching for tools that could automate the process of copying files between these two cloud services.
Many tools were available. Finally I landed on GS RichCopy. It's a robust file transfer tool for windows that is designed to handle large, complex copying between locations including the clouds.
The steps were easy, we just connected both my Box (source) and Dropbox (destination) accounts to GS RichCopy using OAuth. This allows GS RichCopy to access your cloud storage directly using your credentials. I selected the root folder in my Box account I wanted to copy, and chose a destination folder in Dropbox to migrate the files to. It is really a time saver.

Positive: GS RichCopy handles uploading large files from cloud to cloud very well, skipping over any filename collisions, and performing checksums to verify the integrity of the files after copying. This meant I could start the migration process and simply come back hours later to confirm all files had been transferred successfully without any issues.
GS RichCopy supports copying files between all kinds of locations including local folders, network drives, external drives, and cloud storage services and can also automatically take advantage of multiple CPU cores and threads to accelerate the copying process. Your data migration or synchronization jobs will complete in the fastest time possible.

Negative: I don't really have any cons for now and I can update my review in the future if any cons appears.
