Broomkit Description
Broomkit is a macOS application designed to clean disk space and uninstall apps while prioritizing safety and transparency. It performs a comprehensive scan of the home directory, evaluating 16 different categories such as app caches, package caches, dependency folders, simulators, logs, duplicates, and more, displaying each file along with its complete path prior to deletion.
The free version offers a complete disk scan, an interactive Disk Map visualization, tools for finding large and old files, and path browsing capabilities—all without the need for an account. Users can purchase a one-time license to unlock additional features, including the Reclaim tool and the App Uninstaller with residual cleanup.
Safety is a primary concern, as all items marked for removal are sent to Trash, inferred items remain unchecked by default, and no administrator password is needed during the process. To avoid unintended deletions, leftover files are matched using their exact bundle identifiers.
Broomkit also caters specifically to developer environments, addressing the needs of npm, pnpm, and pip cache management, as well as Xcode DerivedData, simulators, and Docker data cleanup. Running natively on macOS 14 and later for both Apple Silicon and Intel architectures, Broomkit is notarized by Apple and does not require a subscription. Ultimately, it is a powerful and user-friendly tool for maintaining a clean and efficient macOS system.
