ActCAD Software Reviews

Summary: Overall experience is good with ACTCAD software.
Small issues that I have explained above, need to do work on the same.

Positive: ACTCAD is ease to use.
Price is very economical as compared to other similar products.
We are getting perpetual license, other service providers don't do the same.
3D tool is more strong as compared to other product.
Use interface is flexible & well monitored.
Add on options are a major advantage while designing.

Negative: Block editing options needs more options like other products.
Block copy & paste have some errors, many times this command doesn't work, need to fix this bug.
Layer setting need to make easy.
If we work on .dwg file from other CAD software the original file setting gets interrupted & we couldn't work easily.
Software becomes slow on working large files.
Customer support numbers should be easily available.
Need good technical team for customer care.

Summary: It is a cheap alternative for main stream cad software with a similar interface.
Has a one time purchase so you have it for lifetime and don't need an active subscription.

Positive: Has free trial.
Fair pricing plans.
Well laid out panels for buttons for features/tools.
Highly optimised so works great even on older computers.

Negative: The interface is a bit old school.
Less frequent updates and fixes.

Summary: Not yet fully evolved and need to catch up with lot of development.
features like option file, borrowing, central deployment, export to XERF, Printing to PDF, etc need to be made robust.

Positive: 1. Cheaper compared to other leading software.
2. Light weight on installation.
3. Indian product developed by Indian

Negative: 1. Patch deployment is complicated. No publish option from central server.
2. When we type in text, we cannot see what actually we are typing i.e. we have to type blindly. The sentence is visible only when we escape from the text option.
3. getting closed abruptly and the work done is getting lost and time is wasted. File cannot be recovered.
4. Difficulty in exporting the CAD drg. to PDF

Summary: Pretty good really for our work, which is a mix of residential, commercial and large industrial, or at least was before COVID.

Positive: Similarity to AutoCad, but not the same!!!
It is reasonably easy to set up and use "out of the box"

Negative: Mouse doesn't seem to be able to be used to scroll. We don't have large screens so scrolling is probably of the most used commands.

Summary: Overall a good product with room for improvement. I think the support could be improved. So far, the typical response was to send a video of the problem which I had to figure out how to do. So the support to my problem was to give me another problem to solve on my own.

Positive: The transition from AutoCAD to this product is incredibly easy, as the interface, ribbons, and command bar all function similarly to AutoCAD. The majority of commands have an identical function, and for most work this software provides everything needed in a drafting software.

Negative: There seems to be an underlying problem with how the User Coordinate System interacts with other commands. Commands, such as rotate, do not function properly if not in the world coordinates. If a drawing has multiple user coordinate systems, then it is a constant hassle to have to translate between those and the world coordinates to get commands to function as expected. There are other more complex commands, such as arraypath, that are unreliable in their functionality. They will work sometimes and then, for a reason I have yet to figure out, cease to do so. The program has other minor glitches such as a graphics glitch if you change tabs while in a viewport, causing the paper space to become invisible, as well as a tendency to freeze when working with Xref files, that need to be addressed. 

Other items noted include:
Selection box glitch - the selection box will not show in the paper space on a particular sheet under certain conditions
Viewport Masking issue - paper space items cannot mask overtop of a viewport with a pdf
Cursor Lineweight - lineweight command appears to sometimes affect cursor and axis lineweight.

Summary: As a small hobbyist that can’t afford the cost of other big name software. This suit my requirement, but there are some parts of software that make me want to through my computer at the wall due to frustration.

Positive: Good price tag.
Easy to pick up after using autodesk products as interface is similar.
Runs fine on my laptop.

Negative: System processes seem slow. E.g.Large join functions seem to case the system to hang.
The product crashes regularly for no apparent reason. Though the auto back up works really well.
The snap function are hard to see.

Summary: I am able, to work with the program, but ACAD is more professional and has a perfect design. The price of the program is very good.

Positive: I like to work with my older ACAD - Drawings and the price of the program is okay. There are a lot of functions to use.

Negative: The tool-Icons are to small and very difficult to find sometimes. To pick up a correct window in the Print-field is very bad and frustrating.

Summary: Pretty recommendable for many users, in civil, environmental, and mechanic design. Not really the tool for many choices, but if you have all other softwares, this is a good backup on other devices or for some users in the office.

Positive: Features are quite a lot for basic and medium users, Price is super low, family style is ok fur sure, US support is great!

Negative: HQ support (web), some clunky design choices, basic BIM.

Summary: The ActCAD 2022 standard is freezing, or no response quite frequently.
Can you make a patch to fix this problem?

Positive: Good substitution for Autocad 2011 LT, also with limited 3D feature, the license is life long, price is acceptable.

Negative: The ActCAD 2022 standard is freezing, or no response quite frequently.
I use Win10, i3 10100 with UHD 630.

Summary: Need to improvise software in smooth functioning.

Positive: No comments.

Negative: Software hangs every now and then, after command its takes time to function. ctb and printer properties is not fixed all time needs to change for every file. for trail version we understand, but for license version it should function properly.

Summary: Good and first, but left on a bad not. I really loved the software but just cannot get it to reinstall on my computer.

Positive: ActCad is a simply a Intellicad product that works essentially the same as other Intellicad products. It was easy to pick up and use since I have been a ACAD, Draftsight, user for years.

Negative: I had a problem with the hatching in version 10. I was instructed to uninstall the product and reinstall the software. I could never get the software to reinstall and after several attempts to go through the support system I decided to go with another vendor of Intellicad. It literally took weeks to get a response form support. I had two paid licenses and cannot get the software to reinstall. I always get the same response from support asking me to do the same thing. I finally just took the loss.

Summary: Software is good and equally good as AutoCAD- but service and backend support is a concern- pls check and buy and take only if they are ready to help.

Positive: Great product, but no backend support to the software. We have taken 3 software- they have single license key. Now when we had some issues with systems and wanted to install the same software in another system . They are asking to upgrade and pay more- why should we pay when we have taken perpetual key - we don’t even want to upgrade the software. They should help us - but no support.

Negative: No backend support.
Force to upgrade.
No proper reply or help from backend.

Summary: Bad feeling. It gives a jerk to see that every now and then a new version is launched and you have to buy afresh instead of upgradation.

Positive: Easy installation & rightly priced. light software. Good initiative for providing option to AutoCAD.

Negative: Design fault. Every time you have to purchase afresh. No upgradation is available for already purchased version.
