Description
WordCraft is an accessible and open-source word processing tool designed for those who create and format various types of documents. Featuring a ribbon interface, it offers a range of editing and design functionalities that include styles, tables, images, citations, footnotes, tables of contents, comments, tracked changes, as well as spelling and grammar checks, and mail merge capabilities. The software can read and write DOCX files, accommodate legacy DOC formats, and is compatible with ODT, RTF, HTML, Markdown, LaTeX, and plain text, in addition to allowing exports to PDF and page images. It operates natively on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and has a WebAssembly version that can be deployed on a static server. Moreover, its command-line utilities, JSON control channel, and server functioning under the Model Context Protocol enable scripted and AI-agent-driven document processing workflows. Currently in the alpha stage, WordCraft is continuously evolving, with ongoing improvements in file compatibility and feature set. pdf2docx is a Python library that leverages PyMuPDF to extract information from PDF documents, analyze their layouts based on specific rules, and create corresponding .docx files using python-docx.
