The PIEL Survey can also be used to conduct Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA), or Experience Sampling Methods (ESM) research methods. These methods are recognized as powerful tools that minimize recall bias and allow detailed analysis of influences on behavior. Web-based surveys are limited in their effectiveness due to the importance of being "inthe moment".
